Iligan City, Philippines ... my hometown. One of my fondest memories here belongs to our public plaza (1st slide), which was a place where we played ping pong on weekends.

The city is also known for its waterfalls, which are about 20. The most popular is Maria Cristina Falls (2nd slide). 🇵🇭

Memories of Manila

I was 13 when my parents sent me away far from home to enter a high school program that combined general education and art. Without a place to call home during weekends, I’d spent the days wandering in the streets and corners of Manila alone until it got dark 🌒. I knew it was dangerous, but no one would dare touch a kid sporting a mohawk ☠️with a yosi in one hand at that time … so I assumed.

So, whenever I get the chance to go home to the Philippines 🇵🇭now, I always try to drop by Manila and check what happened to those places. In 2017, I got a chance to do so with my family. Ermita district is my favorite because of this bookstore called Solidaridad and a recently opened beer station nearby that serves my preferred IPA beer. From there, it’s also within walking distance to Rizal Park, Intramuros, CCP Complex, Binondo, National Museum, Harrison Plaza, etc.
