Just eleven days after Ibaanโs formal establishment as a town on February 11, 1832, a 7-year-old girl named Petronila Bautista was baptized, the first recorded baptism in the newly independent town.
Though the church of Ibaan had existed as early as 1817, this moment marked the beginning of Ibaanโs written ecclesiastical history, the first name ever inked in its baptismal register.

English Translation:
On the twenty-second of February of the year eighteen hundred and thirty-two, I, Father Estevan Flores, acting parish priest of this town of Ibaan, solemnly baptized Petronila Bautista, a seven-year-old girl, daughter of Mariano Bautista and Segunda Bernandina, native and resident of this town in the barrio of Santa Rosa. Her godmother was Paula de los Santos, whom I warned of the spiritual kinship. In witness of truth, I signed. โ Estevan Flores.
A baptism not only of a child, but of a community, the day Ibaanโs faith took its first written breath.
