Sama-sama nating ipagdiwang ang makasaysayan at tradisyunal na Kapistahan ni San Joaquin, ang minamahal na esposo ni Santa Ana at ama ng Mahal na Birheng Maria. Bilang Pambansang Dambana, tungkulin at pribilehiyo nating ipagpatuloy at itaguyod ang mga mahalagang kaugalian at pananampalatayang minana mula sa ating mga ninuno at turo ng Simbahan, na nag-ugat sa malalim na debosyon sa ating mga Patron. Sa pagkakataong ito, muling pinapaalab ng ating pagdiriwang ang ating pananampalataya at pag-ibig sa Diyos, kasabay ng pagbibigay-galang sa Kanyang mga banal na lingkod.

Bilang mga debotong tapat kay San Joaquin, taos-puso namin kayong inaanyayahan na makiisa sa banal na pagdiriwang na ito—sa panalangin, sa pakikilahok sa mga Banal na Misa, at sa pagbabahagi ng kagalakan ng kapistahan. Nawa’y sa ating sama-samang pagdiriwang, higit nating mapalalim ang ating ugnayan sa Diyos at mapalago ang ating pamayanang Kristiyano.

O San Joaquin, Banal naming Tagatangkilik, at katangi-tangi sa mata ng Diyos,
Ipanalangin mo kami!

𝐊𝐀-𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀, 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐌 𝐌𝐎 𝐁𝐀?

Sa taong ito, ang tema ng ating pag-tugpa ay pumapatungkol kay Maria bilang ka-manlalakbay ng Pag-asa.

Ang temang ito ay nakaugat sa opisyal na tema ng 2025 Jubilee Year “Kamamanlakbay ng Pag-asa”, ngunit binibigyang-diin ang mahalagang bahagi ng Mahal na Birhen bilang Patrona ng ating Parokya, Ina ng Simbahan at halimbawa ng pananampalataya at pag-asa sa gitna ng mga pagsubok.

"Kasama si Maria" – Ipinapahayag na sa ating espirituwal na paglalakbay, hindi tayo nag-iisa. Kasama natin si Maria, Ina ng Diyos, na laging gumagabay sa mga mananampalataya at umaakay sa atin patungo kay Kristo.

"Kamanlalakbay" – Isang makabuluhang salita na nagsasaad na si Maria ay hindi lamang tagamasid kundi kasama at kumukupkop sa ating mga anak niya dito sa lupa

"Sisidlan ng Pag-asa" – Ang landas na tinatahak natin ay hindi madali, ngunit ito ay dinaraanan natin na may pananalig na ang Diyos ay tapat at buhay. Si Maria na siyang unang tabernakulo na pinahanan ng Panginoon sa kanyang sinapupunan. Sumilang kasama Niya ang Pag-asa. Pag-asa at pananampalatayang nanatili at hindi nawala mula Anunsayson hanggang sa Asunsyon.

God our Father, you have loved us with love unequal since time began. Born of the Virgin Mary, Your Son has come to speak that love to us and has sent us His Spirit to spark its flame in us. We acknowledge and proclaim that You are our Father with the help of Mary, Our Lady of Montserrat, our Mother and Patroness, bring us protection from danger and freedom from sin that we come to the joy of Your peace. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

READ: THE STORY ON HOW ST. CLARE MIRACULOUSLY DEFEATED AN ENTIRE ARMY

In the face of an invasion, St. Clare took out her secret weapon.
St. Clare, faithful disciple of St. Francis of Assisi, possessed a strong faith in God that did not waver, no matter what the circumstances. This faith was put to the test when an army of soldiers was creating havoc in the valley of Spoleto and turned their eyes towards Assisi.

Just outside the walls of Assisi sits the monastery of San Damiano, where St. Clare and her small community of nuns lived. When the pillaging soldiers reached Assisi, their first obstacle was this monastery and so they began to scale its walls and terrorize the innocent religious women.

At this point St. Clare was in her sickbed, but her sisters were deeply frightened and went immediately to their mother for counsel. The Catholic Encyclopedia narrates what happens next.

Clare, calmly rising from her sick bed, and taking the ciborium from the little chapel adjoining her cell, proceeded to face the invaders at an open window against which they had already placed a ladder. It is related that, as she raised the Blessed Sacrament on high, the soldiers who were about to enter the monastery fell backward as if dazzled, and the others who were ready to follow them took flight.

She also kneeled down and said a short prayer to God, asking him to protect the remaining parts of the city. Instead of trying to find another place to enter the city, the army retreated and never came back, deciding it was better to leave it alone.

Interestingly enough, this was not the last time that St. Clare saved the city. Later on a soldier led the imperial army against Assisi, hoping to claim it for himself. When St. Clare heard that his troops were drawing close to the city, she urged her community to stop everything and pray to God for protection.

Immediately the army was set into confusion and dispersed. The leader of the army never came back and the city of Assisi remained in peace.

Prayer and the Eucharistic presence of Jesus were St. Clare's secret weapons, able to fend off entire armies posed to strike her monastery. It reminds us that true faith can "move mountains" and even protect a city from war.
