🏰 What a horrible night to have a curse! 🦇
Released in 1987 for the Famicom Disk System and 1988 for the NES, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest took a bold, innovative leap away from the linear stage progression of the original game. By introducing open-ended world exploration, weapon upgrades, interactive town merchants, dynamic day/night cycles, and multiple branching endings, Simon's Quest laid down early RPG and non-linear blueprints that would help shape the future of the Metroidvania genre!
Despite famously cryptic NPC advice and hidden secrets, Simon Belmont's quest to gather Dracula's five scattered body parts (Rib, Eye, Heart, Nail, and Ring) to lift his fatal curse remains one of the most iconic and atmospheric experiences on the 8-bit NES.
