The 115 Portraits of Dreamers
Story behind :
I was a graduate of BSEd- Filipino and passed the LET last year, I started volunteering as a teacher in a school , 7km far away from my home. Ahmm medyo may kaba pa kasi baka makaExperience ako mga maAttitude and unkind students pero I'm willing to teach kasi yun ang tinapos ko and yun ang nagustuhan ko despite sa behavior and characteristics ng students.Kailangan ko rin magkaroon ng growth as a teacher especially sa public field. So I was assigned as a Filipino and Contemporary Arts teacher and taught Grade 10 and 12 students. Also nabigyan rin ako ng chance na magturo sa Grade 8 at 9 .Habang tumatagal is naging fully close ko silang lahat like mga younger brothers and sisters. Some of them called me their paps na rin hahah. So may bond na nadevelop b/w the students. December comes and it's the time for me to leave them since nakulangan ng financial kasi most of the financial is napunta sa Graduate studies and my volunteer teaching comes from my own wallet only. I felt sad pero I came up with an idea na regaluhan ko sila when they Graduated and di ko pa alam if ano ang pwede kasi limited lang budget ko huhu.
March ngayung year nag-asikaso ako for the application of ranking for Public School teachers. Before ako ako magdemo teaching from the High School I graduated and nag-iisip naman ako if ano magandang reward ko sa mga mahahandle ko na mga students. While I was scrolling sa FB nakita post from sir John Leoncito who created drawings for his students na naging viral, sheesh. I think na what if charcoal portrait nalang regalo ko as a gratitude to those students na nahandle ko na Magraduate sa high school. I think it is impossible siya kasi charcoal is supposedly super realistic and takes hours para magawa. The day of my Demo Teaching for being a teacher applicant , I met another section full of gifted, genius and academic achiever students. Medyo nakaramdam naman ng kaba because pero I will do this para sa position for teacher 1. I was confident that time nang nafeel ko na welcomed ako as their teacher even though may halo pa ring kaba. I announced that their reward will be given by the time they graduate. I was thankful for them because di nila ako pinahirapan hehe. After the Demo Teaching I bought materials for the portraits. I estimate the time and days of how many portraits I can make until May 31. Naisip ko na baka magkulang ako ng oras magawan ang para sa mga students ko na nahandlelan ko sa Grade 10. I thinked na gawan ko nalang siguro sila ng anime portrait nila as a gift kanila if kung kailan lang matapos hehe. Day and night ko ginawa mga portraits at mostly my vacant time kasi may mga things ring ginagawa. I was willing to make these naman kasi I see sa mga faces ng student ko na super pagod sila and at the same time struggling sa life. Thanks to my parents ko and girlfriend kasi all throughout supported naman sila. After 3 months natapos ko ang mga charcoal portraits and I give it to them sa kanilang graduation ceremony. I see na masaya sila when they receive the portraits and that time is the time that worth it ang efforts ko.
This greatest part as a teacher that I experienced is when the students connect to you and It makes you forget the bad things and flaws in life.
Thank you to the sections I handled especially Batch 2024 GAS A, B,10 Handicraft and other sections I handled at Bagacay National High School , and also to STEM- Axis of Gubat National High School. I really grew a lot, not just being a teacher but also as a person. Congratulations to all of you and continue being a kind-hearted and hardworking student. Okey hanggang digdi nalang kay mao na ata yadi ang longest caption ko.Which is bihira lang hahaha.
