šŸ’” How My Son Got 7 Sales in One Day: A Simple Lesson in Entrepreneurship for Kids šŸ§’

Last Monday, I shared about teaching my kids financial literacy.

One of our favorite bonding moments as a family is going grocery shopping. But I started noticing that my kids were becoming very demanding—asking for branded food, imported goods, and adding unnecessary items to the cart.

I’m not depriving them of the things they enjoy. I simply want them to understand the difference between needs and wants and to become more mindful of their spending decisions.

So one day, I gave them a challenge.

Since they wanted to buy extra things, I told them, ā€œWhy don’t you earn the money for it?ā€ I asked them to sell one of today’s trending items—Squishy Dumplings.

To my surprise, my son Dale sold 7 orders in just one day! ā¤ļø

I didn’t give him a sales script, marketing strategy, or tell him exactly what to do. I simply gave him the opportunity, and he took it seriously. Watching him build the confidence to approach people and make sales made me realize that children are often capable of much more than we think.

Disclaimer: Before anyone misunderstands, this is not child labor or exploitation. My children are not obligated to work. This was simply a learning experience to help them understand that money is earned through effort and that every purchase should be made wisely.

These are lessons that aren’t always taught inside the classroom but are learned through real-life experiences.

As parents, our role isn’t just to provide—it is also to prepare our children for life. We can teach them to:
✨ Build confidence
šŸ’° Become financially literate
šŸ¤ Take responsibility
šŸ“ˆ Develop a growth mindset
ā¤ļø Appreciate the value of hard-earned money

Sometimes, the greatest inheritance we can give our children isn’t wealth—it’s the wisdom and skills to create it.

Sometimes we all need a little escape—a simple massage, a moment to breathe, and a chance to recharge before returning to our responsibilities.

Thank You, Lord, for this small moment of rest away from my working desk. Thank You for reminding me that taking care of myself is not a luxury, but a necessity. ā¤ļøā¤ļø

What My Mama Taught Me About Trusting God Through Every SeasonšŸ˜šŸ§‘šŸ»ā€šŸ¦°šŸ‘µ

One thing I realized while reflecting on today’s passage is how easy it is for us to complain. We often focus on what’s missing, what didn’t go our way, or how difficult life has become. But how often do we stop and reflect on God’s faithfulness?

Psalm 39 reminds us that life is temporary. Our days are in God’s hands, and because of that, every moment we have is a gift. Instead of asking, ā€œWhy is this happening to me?ā€ maybe we should also ask, ā€œLord, how have You been faithful to me all these years?ā€

Personally, this chapter reminded me so much of my mama.

At the age of 9, she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. The doctors told her that if she got married and had children, her condition could become life-threatening. They even estimated that she might only live until her early twenties.

But God had a different plan.

My mama became a mother of three, and instead of living only until the age doctors expected, God sustained her life until she was 59 years old. Looking back now, every extra year was a testimony of God’s grace.

One thing I admired most about her was her unwavering faith. No matter how difficult life became, she never allowed her circumstances to define her hope. If you asked her how she was doing, her usual response was always,

**ā€Buhi atong Ginoo.ā€**

Those three words carried so much truth. She didn’t ignore life’s struggles, but she chose to magnify God’s goodness more than her problems.

She didn’t just teach us about prayer—she modeled it. I believe the reason my siblings and I continue to depend on God today is because we first witnessed a prayerful life through our mama.

Of course, as her children, we wish we had more time with her. We hoped she would enjoy retirement, travel with us, and create more family memories. She was a hardworking woman, both at home and at work. Maybe that’s where I got my work ethic too.

But God’s plans are always perfect.

One week before she passed away, she wasn’t suffering from a long illness. She was doing well. And every time I read Psalm 39:7, I can’t help but think of her life:

ā€œBut now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in You.ā€

That verse beautifully describes how she lived. Her hope was never in her health, her strength, or her circumstances. Her hope was always in the Lord.

Losing a mother is never easy, especially now that I’m raising teenagers, a pre-teen, and my little girl. There are days when I wish I could still call her, ask for advice, or simply hear her comforting voice.

But one lesson she left in my heart continues to guide me:

** Ayaw una isumbong ang tanan nimong gibati sa ubang tawo. Isulti una na sa Ginoo. Kung bug-at na kaayo imong dughan, hilak sa Iyang atubangan. Kay Siya ra gyud ang hingpit nga nakasabot sa imong kasakit, kahadlok, ug sa tanang kabug-aton nga imong gipasan. šŸ™**

Today, Psalm 39 reminds us that life is not measured by how many years we live, but by how faithfully we live for Christ.

My mama’s greatest legacy wasn’t material possessions. It was her unwavering faith, her life of prayer, and her complete trust in God. That is a treasure our family will always cherish.

4 years ago, I stopped my freelancing journey.

Wala na koy clients because I chose to focus on our business. My husband and I were a great team—ako ang mo-generate ug income, while he was excellent at managing and growing what we earned. Looking back, I’m grateful for those years.

But life happened.

Our income slowed down, one of our biggest sources of income gradually declined, and we faced challenges we never expected. Last November, I made one of the hardest decisions—to go back to freelancing.

To be honest, I was scared.

I kept thinking, ā€œWhat if wala na’y mo-hire nako? What if lisod na kaayo mubalik?ā€ I experienced rejection after rejection. There were moments I questioned myself while seeing so many people on social media who seemed to be progressing so quickly.

But God has a funny way of using difficult seasons to redirect us.

He reminded me that 20 rejections can lead to 1 premium client.

Looking back at these past 8 months, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. God didn’t just bring me back to freelancing—He placed me where I believe I was meant to be.

✨ Direct clients.
✨ No agency.
✨ No third-party cuts.
✨ Just trust, hard work, and God’s perfect timing.

This season has taught me to slow down, appreciate what I have, and stop chasing everything at once.

People often ask me,
ā€œMobalik pa ba ka sa negosyo?ā€

My answer is YES. But not today.

Maybe when our kids are older. Kanang makafocus na ko ug maayo, dili na pirmi naay daghang gasto, ug makatigom na usab ug kapital.

Side hustles will always be part of me. That’s who I am.

But negosyo? It also requires releasing hundreds of thousands—sometimes even millions. For now, I’m choosing peace over pressure. Even if everyone is investing in the next big trend, even if it’s a pickleball court.

For this season, I choose to:
Pause. Reflect. Enjoy. Be Grateful.

I’m still paying off obligations to suppliers, and the journey isn’t over yet. But this time, I’m walking through it with a grateful heart because I know one day, mahuman ra gyud ni tanan.

Work hard. Sleep harder. 🤭

Mirisi, dugay kaayo ug duty. Apas yarn! šŸ˜‚

Thank you, Lord, for every closed door, every rejection, every lesson, and every blessing. Your timing will always be better than mine. ā¤ļøšŸ™
