Music as Prayer, Music as a Calling
Last July 24, some members of our orchestra were blessed with the opportunity to serve through music at the 12th Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE 2026), held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
With this year’s theme, “Sangkáy: I Have Called You Friends” (John 15:15), the conference reminds us of the beauty of friendship, accompaniment, and journeying together in faith.
Our young musicians were invited to serve at one of the Prayer Pathways: Music and Healing, where they helped lead the people in song during the Holy Hour and Eucharistic Adoration.
For them, this was not a performance.It was a calling to serve.
Every note played and every song sung became a prayer, not to draw attention to themselves, but to help create a sacred space where people could pray more deeply, encounter Christ, and adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament.
In that moment, music became more than sound. It became prayer, ministry, and a way of accompanying others toward God.
We are grateful for this beautiful opportunity for our young musicians to realize that the gifts God has given them have a greater purpose: to serve others and, above all, to give glory to Him.
Not a performance, but a prayer.
Not for applause, but for His glory.
