PADIGOSAN 2025: LAYAG SUNDAYAG PAINTING CONTEST

DVAG artists joined the sail boat painting contest on July 19, 2025 at Dawis Digos City, Davao del Sur as part of the last day Padigosan Festival. This was the last day event of Digos City LGU administration conducted in the shoreline coastal area as one of Digos identity and demography features.

The contest was organized to exhibit teamwork as a collaborative efforts of craftsman and artistry by the unity of each registered groups. The artists consolidated their concepts into one to align their competitive festival’s theme, emphasizing the identical features of local tourism and agricultural known agricultural commodities of the city.

These artists were those who also participated the previous Padigosan painting and Layag Sail contest last year with unrelenting spirits to maintain the slot of being the active participants for every Barangay artistry events. Among the 18 Barangay representatives, some DVAG Admin represents their support and goal of winning aside of participating this festival, namely were the travel artist from Kiblawan, DVAG VP Shane Bryan Morabe Shane Bryan along with Jamenel Nomio Jamenel Mangolon, a resident of Barangay Dulangan representing together with other co-resident artist. Other admins who consistently participated and won the annual event were also Admin Reujay Montebon Reujay Banuelos Montebon and admin Aaron Kyle Albite with their co-resident artist whom represented also their Barangay Cogon. These three also took their sweet success in their humble award received as third placer of Bangka Design Contest aside of their sail boat painting contest entry representing their sworn Barangay again. These artistic men savored their momentous triumph during the award distribution with a smile from the heart of their humble fame. They celebrated their championship and honorable place with the plaque and monetary award that have been received at the actual venue with an exhilarating music-to-an-ear applause of the crowd who witnessed the contest awarding ceremony.

Along with this, it was a pride as well for the other talented participants to witness their co-artists gain a champion or a winning place. A motivation for them to keep trying and just enjoy the day of accomplishment, wishing to gain a placer award soon. With rapport and genuine support, each took the moment to capture photos with the other artists who were also a member of the same independent guild. Other Admins were artist Noela Lariosa Weleen Ivory Caroline and Admin Ivy Jane Bobilla Aybee Sordilla Bobila with the other co-resident artist representing Barangay Igpit; Admin Laramae Florentino Lara Florentino Jenny Maghanoy, Arts Kevin Yamomo with other Tudlok Artists whom also collaborated the Barangay event also representing Zone 1; and lastly was Admin CJ Delos Reyes Cj Delosreyes with other co-resident artists representing Barangay San Agustin.

Each of them took the chance to participate the long preparation up to the painting area inside the designated covered court to transform their idealized concepts into a visual arts form with an integrated message painted in one vibrant chromatic sail cloth. The process was long for them to bare, but all sweats and evident efforts were paid off the moment they finally took an undeniable euphoria to smile as they gaze and cheer to their satisfying painted sailcloth boats parading on the calm near sight sea horizon.

Afterwards, they took a pride of ownership rights as one of their momentous accomplishments of their public contest crafts through their individual luxury of captured photos for keeps — one of annual memories for this long awaited local celebration of talents this year.

Local contest was one of the unrelenting meet up opportunity for each random artists from various places to convene in one area and unleashed their passionate arts spirits to express their genuine styles of artistry. It’s more than just a competition, but mainly a life to always live on that marked their souls as artist identity wherever they are. With the burning artist flame inside of them, the surging and undying energy had compelled them to engage in this outside exposure opportunity to express each individual’s creativity in public had shaped their sworn will as a promising artist as they live on. Arts is life that will always emblem their spirit either they won or not, nevertheless, the memorable accomplishment as participant will forever be captured in their minds and hearts and marked a profile for their willful contribution in Philippines arts literature by means of this city’s local festival celebration.

DVAG Arts Competition and Commission 2024

Competition was one of the morale-lifting exposure of almost all art enthusiasts, especially the local artists. Venturing the hope of chances were a captivated memories through successful endeavor in this level, an achievement for a life-time to remember.

The 2024 Shell National Students Arts Competition (NSAC) themed as "Lika na, Likha pa ng Obra" celebrated the Filipino resilient spirit, collaboration, determination, and country's journey heading to progress. This also upholds the past achievements while yearning for progressing future along of each countable endeavor.

This was open to all graduates and continuing students of any recognized and accredited State, Universities, and Colleges (SUCs) around the Philippines. The arts materials were categorized through digital materials (e.g., digital fine arts and photography) and traditional materials (e.g., oil/acrylic, sculpture, and watercolor) that the diverse artists have had utilized.

An artist from municipality of Matanao, Chester Lance Buenavista took his chance to showcase his piece in the category of traditional dry arts medium. Among the 1,500 entries around the Philippines, he still able to participate and expose his talent in this annual grand contest. A countable exposure for all daring and dreamy artists in this kind of exposure.

Moreover, some passionate full-time artists consistently serve the arts world through arts commission with their clients. In numerous subjects, references, styles, elements, theme, and concepts, they always strived and provided the expected output, but as much as possible within or beyond expected quality, talent, and skills to gain the clients varying satisfaction and standard level that can suffice with their agreed price level.

The following artists whom maintain the momentum of clients commission ideals were the independent freedom artists, namely: Czarina Jas Rabanes "Zee Ravanes", Zee Ravanes, the External President and Admin; Michael Jay Salcedo, Michael Jay Salcedo, one of the DVAG admins; Shane Bryan Morabe, Shane Bryan Morabe, Vice-President and Admin; CJ Delos Reyes, Cj Delosreyes, Office and Admin; Reyjun Marley Gulle, Reyjun Gulle, Internal President and Admin; Reujay Montebon, Reujay Banuelos Montebon Officer and Admin.

Competition and commission were both an arts fulfilling exposure to all sworn artists in this modern world where in modern opportunities boosted these individual's talents to better serve the visual arts industry and people from various society.

DVAG Artists, one of the edge of Mindanao Art 2024

Arts exhibit on the famous and grand public mall in Davao City, SM Lanang. Exhibition titled "Art on the Edge" started on September 27 to October 6, 2024 which had been actively supported and participated by 400 diverse traditional visual artists of Mindanao and dazzled all other diverse arts enthusiasts across the region.

DVAG officers and admins not just participated but also won favored to some buyer's exceptional appreciation of their official sold-out paintings by means of artists and clients professional negotiation process. The painting sets were more like conceptualized through symbiotic and analogous center subjects, making each pair of canvas a mirrored pair half of each other when these were closely piled up in unison at the projected broad pile of walls in the exhibit area.

These two individuals were the fine-arts graduates namely: Zee Ravanes, the External President and Admin; Michael Jay Salcedo, one of the DVAG admin.

Along with the exposure platforms, numerous visual arts organizations and pages boosted their approval and support of these paintings until claimed and marked as sold. The achiever artists gained their end goal, mainly but not limited to common achievements were their sense of being seen, heard, and valued to the next level with also have high support of actualization towards other local artists in the region. Along with these influential motivation drivers of these two artists were their public exposure, sold-out painting pieces, and future clients prospect can have an assured consistency in their uniqueness in the visual arts industry.

Moreover, Chester Lance Buenavista, one of the admin and Tessa Marie Casonete Sedon, one of the admin, also took their chance to join the annual biggest art exhibit event of Mindanao. These were painted professionally and suitable inline to the theme, emanating and evoking an intense memories and real-life emotions as how subjects, color, elements, and compounds of the piece harmonically blends to each other, composing a classical gallery effects to the naked eyes with subjective touch to mankind life existence and evolution.

These two artists were local professed visual artists of Digos, imbued of passion with heart and soul as they marked a name to other visual arts groups in Digos City and other municipality, an exploration and home of passion where they venture opportunities for growth and exposure as the years ascended high.

These four artists displayed as one of the inspiration to some arts enthusiast of the groups they blend in, more possibly for other undiscovered artist and dreamer, or any aspiring artists to achieve the same level of achievement, in almost possible way. As enjoined artists of the Mindanao Arts, they are open of the leading model for others to achieve their dream, to be one of the exhibitor someday of another year of Mindanao Art event in the region.

ᴘᴀᴅɪɢᴏꜱᴀɴ ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴘᴀɪɴᴛɪɴɢ ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇꜱᴛ 2024: ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀᴋɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ꜱᴀɪʟɪɴɢ ᴘʀᴏᴄᴇꜱꜱ

Creative days on July 18-19, 2024, diverse but unified artists of Digos joined the magnificent flying colors that had been fixtured and scribbled on each sail cloths. Each painted sails vibrantly emanated the rich culture, tribes, arts, and local history of Digos through the message conveyed in each colors and subjects inputs using
varying techniques of emphasis.

Among all 25 teams of competent and highly creative traditional visual artists who successfully assembled themselves as they represented their identified Barangays in Digos City, three teams from this open organization made their sail a satisfactorily finished arts pieces. During and after the event, they manifested their one day and one night hardwork of creativity with sweats and sense of accomplishment as they stood tall with behind their sail painting.

DVAG Admins and officers made their contest story a countable milestone of artist journey, namely: CJ Delos Reyes from Brgy. Ruparan, Digos City; Rogie Mae Villarte, Laramae Florentino, and Reujay B. Montebon from Brgy. Cogon, Digos City; Shane Bryan Morabe and Jamenel Nomio from Brgy. Dulangan; Reyjun Marley Gulle from Brgy. Tres de Mayo; and Arron Kyle Albite and Aaron Benz Padraque representative from DASURECO

Vice-President and admin Shane Bryan Morabe with artist Jamenel Nomio from Brgy. Dulangan got the 2nd place while one of the astounding tribal children painted on sail made by CJ Delos Reyes with his team from Brgy. Ruparan, Digos City got the Top 4 place of the contest. Its all a paid off efforts for all participating artists got a consolation price worth Php 5,000.00

A wholehearted gratitude to the well-organized management of the event contest under the administration of Digos City government officials for showcasing the local traditional visual talents through this yearly contest event. Special thanks to the concept initiator of Layag contest, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐀𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐭 for this phenomenal arts exposure activity which had truly adapted and continued as the years of progressive city rise onwards. Truly, this annual celebration of talents will surely convene all local visual artists from today's generation and beyond.

BDO Unibank and SM Supermalls in partnership with the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, invite all female Filipino citizens to showcase their artistic talents through Sining Filipina. The competition seeks to promote, empower, and encourage the Filipina creative as an originator of art.

With both figurative and non-figurative categories, the contest will provide a platform for the participants to express their worldview of today’s woman.

Original artworks, wholly conceptualized and executed by the participant, may be submitted until January 31, 2024. Cash prize of up to P250,000 for the First Place Winner is at stake.
