PADIGOSAN 2025: LAYAG SUNDAYAG PAINTING CONTEST
DVAG artists joined the sail boat painting contest on July 19, 2025 at Dawis Digos City, Davao del Sur as part of the last day Padigosan Festival. This was the last day event of Digos City LGU administration conducted in the shoreline coastal area as one of Digos identity and demography features.
The contest was organized to exhibit teamwork as a collaborative efforts of craftsman and artistry by the unity of each registered groups. The artists consolidated their concepts into one to align their competitive festival’s theme, emphasizing the identical features of local tourism and agricultural known agricultural commodities of the city.
These artists were those who also participated the previous Padigosan painting and Layag Sail contest last year with unrelenting spirits to maintain the slot of being the active participants for every Barangay artistry events. Among the 18 Barangay representatives, some DVAG Admin represents their support and goal of winning aside of participating this festival, namely were the travel artist from Kiblawan, DVAG VP Shane Bryan Morabe Shane Bryan along with Jamenel Nomio Jamenel Mangolon, a resident of Barangay Dulangan representing together with other co-resident artist. Other admins who consistently participated and won the annual event were also Admin Reujay Montebon Reujay Banuelos Montebon and admin Aaron Kyle Albite with their co-resident artist whom represented also their Barangay Cogon. These three also took their sweet success in their humble award received as third placer of Bangka Design Contest aside of their sail boat painting contest entry representing their sworn Barangay again. These artistic men savored their momentous triumph during the award distribution with a smile from the heart of their humble fame. They celebrated their championship and honorable place with the plaque and monetary award that have been received at the actual venue with an exhilarating music-to-an-ear applause of the crowd who witnessed the contest awarding ceremony.
Along with this, it was a pride as well for the other talented participants to witness their co-artists gain a champion or a winning place. A motivation for them to keep trying and just enjoy the day of accomplishment, wishing to gain a placer award soon. With rapport and genuine support, each took the moment to capture photos with the other artists who were also a member of the same independent guild. Other Admins were artist Noela Lariosa Weleen Ivory Caroline and Admin Ivy Jane Bobilla Aybee Sordilla Bobila with the other co-resident artist representing Barangay Igpit; Admin Laramae Florentino Lara Florentino Jenny Maghanoy, Arts Kevin Yamomo with other Tudlok Artists whom also collaborated the Barangay event also representing Zone 1; and lastly was Admin CJ Delos Reyes Cj Delosreyes with other co-resident artists representing Barangay San Agustin.
Each of them took the chance to participate the long preparation up to the painting area inside the designated covered court to transform their idealized concepts into a visual arts form with an integrated message painted in one vibrant chromatic sail cloth. The process was long for them to bare, but all sweats and evident efforts were paid off the moment they finally took an undeniable euphoria to smile as they gaze and cheer to their satisfying painted sailcloth boats parading on the calm near sight sea horizon.
Afterwards, they took a pride of ownership rights as one of their momentous accomplishments of their public contest crafts through their individual luxury of captured photos for keeps — one of annual memories for this long awaited local celebration of talents this year.
Local contest was one of the unrelenting meet up opportunity for each random artists from various places to convene in one area and unleashed their passionate arts spirits to express their genuine styles of artistry. It’s more than just a competition, but mainly a life to always live on that marked their souls as artist identity wherever they are. With the burning artist flame inside of them, the surging and undying energy had compelled them to engage in this outside exposure opportunity to express each individual’s creativity in public had shaped their sworn will as a promising artist as they live on. Arts is life that will always emblem their spirit either they won or not, nevertheless, the memorable accomplishment as participant will forever be captured in their minds and hearts and marked a profile for their willful contribution in Philippines arts literature by means of this city’s local festival celebration.
