MinPop mourns the passing of Davey Langit—a beloved friend and family to MinPop who graced our 2020 stage and served as judge for our 2022 season.

Davey was a steadfast supporter and an inspiration to Mindanao’s musicians and songwriters. He has helped champion our homegrown voices, shared his wisdom with generosity, and believed deeply in what original Filipino music could become.

Our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the wider music community. Your songs live on in every stage you helped build. Daghang salamat, Davey Ryan Edward Langit. 🕊️

What is MinPop?

Mindanao Popular Music Festival -- otherwise known as MinPop -- is a nationwide songwriting festival that aims to showcase original Mindanaoan popular music.

The 1st MinPop, which will be implemented through a series of activities from April 2019 to February 2020, is being held under the auspices of Muzic’s Kool.

The term "MinPop" has been used in various events and occasions throughout different areas in Mindanao. To set a distinction, our identity as MinPop is intended to create a bigger platform for Mindanaoans to showcase their music to the world.
