Roddy McDowall spent more than sixty years on screen—yet generations remember entirely different versions of him.
He was the sensitive boy from How Green Was My Valley, the loyal friend in Lassie Come Home and the unforgettable soul beneath the makeup in Planet of the Apes.
Unlike many child stars, Roddy never disappeared when adulthood arrived. He became Octavian in Cleopatra, Peter Vincent in Fright Night and a familiar presence across film, television and Broadway. Behind the camera, he was also a gifted photographer whose portraits preserved the private faces of many Hollywood friends.
Whether audiences saw his face or only his eyes beneath layers of prosthetics, Roddy brought intelligence, gentleness and humanity to every character.
Remembering Roddy McDowall on his heavenly 98th birthday.
Which role introduced you to him: Huw Morgan, Cornelius, Caesar or Peter Vincent?

John Ritter would have turned 78—and television still feels a little less joyful without him.
As Jack Tripper, he could turn one misunderstanding, one nervous glance and one perfectly timed fall into comedy millions of families shared together.
Three’s Company made him a household name and earned him both an Emmy and a Golden Globe, but Ritter was far more than one beloved sitcom character. He brought warmth to 8 Simple Rules, chaos to Problem Child, unexpected dramatic depth to Sling Blade and a gentle voice to Clifford the Big Red Dog.
His comedy was wonderfully physical, but the kindness behind it was what made audiences love him. He never seemed to be performing above the viewer—he invited everyone into the joke.
Remembering John Ritter on his heavenly 78th birthday. ❤️

Anne Bancroft would have turned 95—a woman remembered for one iconic role, but whose greatness reached far beyond Mrs. Robinson.
She conquered Broadway, television and film with performances that could be commanding, vulnerable, witty and devastatingly human.
Her portrayal of Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker earned her both a Tony Award and the Oscar for Best Actress. The Graduate made her unforgettable to an entirely different generation, while The Turning Point, The Elephant Man, Agnes of God and 84 Charing Cross Road revealed the extraordinary range behind that famous voice and gaze.
Off-screen, she shared more than four decades with Mel Brooks—an enduring partnership between two remarkably different creative spirits.
Remembering Anne Bancroft on her heavenly 95th birthday: elegant, fearless and impossible to reduce to a single character.

Before he became Perry White, Jackie Cooper had already made Oscar history at only nine years old.
Few child stars ever traveled farther—or endured longer—than the boy America first loved in Our Gang.
Born on September 15, 1922, Cooper became the youngest performer ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor after his heartbreaking performance in Skippy.
Unlike many childhood stars, he built an entirely new adult career. He starred in The People’s Choice and Hennesey, became a respected Emmy-winning television director, and later introduced himself to another generation as Perry White in the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
His journey stretched from the earliest days of talking pictures to the modern superhero era—a lifetime spent growing up in front of America.
Jackie Cooper would have been 104 years old.
Remembering a remarkable Hollywood survivor whose face belonged to more than one generation. ❤️
Which Jackie Cooper role do you remember first: the little boy from Our Gang or Perry White from Superman?

Today, September 15, Tommy Lee Jones turns 80. 🎂

For generations of movie lovers, that unforgettable face has meant only one thing: a man you should never underestimate.

He pursued Harrison Ford across America in The Fugitive, kept the galaxy under control as Agent K in Men in Black, became Woodrow F. Call in Lonesome Dove, and brought a quiet, weary humanity to No Country for Old Men.

No unnecessary speeches. No wasted movement. Just that unmistakable voice, that stare—and a screen presence Hollywood could never manufacture twice.

If one of his performances lives somewhere in your memories, leave Tommy Lee Jones a birthday message today.

Happy 80th birthday to a true American screen legend. 🎉

Oliver Stone turns 80—the filmmaker who never asked America to look away.
He turned war, power, money and political doubt into some of the most unforgettable movies of a generation.
A Vietnam veteran before becoming a director, Stone transformed painful personal memories into Platoon and later explored another side of the war in Born on the Fourth of July.
Then came Wall Street, JFK, The Doors and Nixon—movies that provoked arguments, challenged familiar stories and remained in the public imagination long after the theater lights came back on.
Audiences did not always agree with Oliver Stone, but they could never ignore him.
Eight decades of life. Five decades of fearless filmmaking. One unmistakable cinematic voice.
Happy 80th birthday to Oliver Stone. 🎬

You may not remember Harve Presnell’s name—but you have almost certainly heard that voice or seen that commanding face.
He conquered Broadway first, then returned decades later as one of Hollywood’s most memorable authority figures.
Presnell’s booming baritone made him a star in *The Unsinkable Molly Brown* and brought “They Call the Wind Maria” to life in *Paint Your Wagon*. After years devoted largely to the stage, *Fargo* introduced him to a new generation as Wade Gustafson.
He followed that memorable comeback with *Face/Off, Saving Private Ryan, The Pretender* and *Flags of Our Fathers*.
Born September 14, 1933, Harve would have celebrated his 93rd birthday—remembered as a rare performer who enjoyed two completely different careers.
Where do you remember seeing him first?

Sam Neill should have been celebrating his 79th birthday today.
Instead, fans are marking his first birthday in heaven—only two months after saying goodbye.
For millions, he will always be Dr. Alan Grant: the steady, intelligent presence who made the wonder and terror of *Jurassic Park* feel real. But his remarkable career reached far beyond the dinosaurs.
From *My Brilliant Career* and *Dead Calm* to *The Hunt for Red October, The Piano* and *Peaky Blinders*, Sam could move effortlessly between quiet drama, adventure and menace. Away from the screen, audiences came to love the warm, humorous man sharing life from his New Zealand vineyard.
Today we remember not only the roles, but the familiar voice and gentle humanity behind them.
Happy 79th birthday in heaven, Sam.

For millions of children, he wasn’t an actor playing a hero. He was the hero.
Clayton Moore carried the values of The Lone Ranger long after the cameras stopped rolling.
Beginning in 1949, Moore rode into American homes alongside Jay Silverheels and helped turn an early television Western into a weekly family tradition. Even after the series ended, he continued meeting fans and encouraging children to live with courage, honesty and respect.
The role became so inseparable from the man that his Hollywood Walk of Fame star carries both names: Clayton Moore and The Lone Ranger.
Born September 14, 1914, he would have celebrated his 112th birthday today.
For those who watched him growing up, do you still remember hearing that familiar call from the television?

For generations, he will always be the eager young navigator who helped carry television into the future.
Today, Walter Koenig turns 90—and the journey he joined nearly six decades ago is still inspiring new fans.
Koenig brought humor, energy and unmistakable personality to Pavel Chekov on the original *Star Trek*. He returned for seven big-screen adventures, growing older alongside the cast and the viewers who loved them.
Then *Babylon 5* gave him an entirely different legacy as the calculating Alfred Bester, proving he could be just as memorable without sitting at a starship console.
On his milestone birthday, we celebrate an actor whose voice and face remain woven into science-fiction history.
Happy 90th birthday, Walter Koenig.
