ROBERT BERNADAS is a self-taught artist from Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines. His passion for art began in childhood - drawing figures on walls with various tools. Inspired by national and classical artists such as Fernando Amorsolo, Juan Luna, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Diego Velasquez. He dreamed of having his work displayed in museums.
During elementary years, he consistently won art competitions and continued to excel in high school, reaching the national level in contests. Despite his early success, he paused his art career at 17 due to personal circumstances and shifted his focus to music. He became a recording artist, theater actor, cellist, and band vocalist (working internationally for a decade, including a notable stint in China).
In 2018, Robert returned to the Philippines with plans to resume visual art. By 2019, he first created a portrait for his nephew, leading to commissions from friends and eventually turning art into his main livelihood. He now specializes portraiture and participates in local painting contests - an awardee of the first Cebu Heritage Summit painting contest in 2021 with his masterpiece, "Palina" (Smoke Bath). Two of his paintings, "Juan Faller Climaco's portrait" and "Rizal's First Heartbreak" were displayed at Rizal Memorial Library & Museum for historical events and celebrations.
