Hi guys! 🎢 Message from Ate Cathy Santamaria ⬇️ let's make some noise for our Mother in Music πŸ’–

Pls show support for my mom's national artist nomination by way of reposting your profile pic frame and if possible saying a little something about how she has influenced your life or Sala foundation..and i will reshare all your posts..i only saw one public declaration by Sara. We need to create a lot of noise..especially in Cebu..dis is a very political nomination.. so many factors can hinder and block her nomination..

Guys there is power in numbers. Let's ask all our families and friends to support our very own Dr. Ingrid Santamaria. Thanks! 😊

Holy Week Reflections πŸ’–

*DEAFENING SILENCE*

(Holy Saturday)

πŸ™ Read: John 19:31-42

Have you ever experienced deafening silence? It is a sensation where everything is so quiet that it almost sounds earsplittingly loud. The reason for this feeling is rooted in our ears being familiar with constant noise. So much so, that when that noise is suddenly silenced, the lack of noise appears quieter than silence. While the ear tries to figure out the sudden shift in sound, it results in that feeling of deafening silence.

During this Holy Saturday, we are wrestling with the deafening silence of the grave. Jesus went to the cross, instantly flooding the hearts of His followers with noise of every kind. But suddenly, in a borrowed tomb, the Messiah lay lifeless and alone. The silence surrounding the loss of Jesus must have been deafening for His disciples. For three years, they had soaked up every word Jesus said. But now, it was over. Although we know the end of the story, it is good to sit in the silence of the grave. Pondering the weight of sin is an important part of the Easter story. We spend so much time singing about victory and grace, love and mercy. But there was a short time where all hope was lost.

But there is good news on this Holy Saturday. Although hope seemed lost, it was not. Although death seemed to have won, it had not. What is the deafening silence you facing today? Remember that God gives silence to point us to His presence. Jesus has given hope to break the silence of your circumstances, just like He shattered the silence of the grave.

Unconditional, Unfathomable and Incomparable love of Jesus Christ for us πŸ’•

When we see almost-accurate portrayals of Jesus' suffering and crucifixion it makes us uncomfortable. We would rather believe the sugar-coated and not-so brutal portrayals of it. We would rather believe that the suffering He endured was not that painful and not as brutal so that we can be less guilty of our sinful nature... but how can we truly understand and value the depth of His love if we do not acknowledge the truth of what He endured for us all 2,000yrs ago? Yes it was very painful... it was very brutal... He received a punishment that was fit for the worst criminal at His time... that was the price He paid so that we may have life and life more abundantly in Him... let us accept this truth and allow it to make us uncomfortable that we will always value and never take for granted His great love for you and me πŸ™Œ

Holy Week Reflections πŸ’–

*THE BLOOD*

(Good Friday)

πŸ™ Read: John 19:16-30

Singing about blood often creates tension. Throughout the history of the church, singing powerful songs centered around the blood of Jesus has been a pillar of faith. But blood can make some feel uneasy, even shocked or queasy. But it is clear that Easter could not exist without the sacrificial blood of Jesus. Knowing this, why does it hit a nerve when Christians sing about the blood?

Sacrifice should never be passive for the Christian and it definitely was not for the devout Jew at the time of Jesus’ ministry. Blood sacrifices were meticulous, expensive, and gruesome. But they were necessary. God’s repulsion of sin so clearly opposes mankind’s numbness to sin, and yet God chooses to love His creation anyway -through the lens of an innocent blood sacrifice. It’s a hard truth to wrestle with as a believer. When we sing about the blood of Jesus, we are not singing about a blood sacrifice to satisfy a few sins, or all sins for a little while, like the ancient Israelite would use. Through the ages, God’s people searched for the greatest sacrifice to honor God, but God honored us with the perfect sacrifice of His Son. Jesus’ blood cleanses all sin, of all people, for all time, in all ways. His blood is pure and holy. Perfect and set apart.

So, you can sing about the blood with confidence and boldness because, without the innocent blood of Jesus, Easter is nothing but a tragedy. God, in His sovereign mercy, gave us the promise l of Good Friday. That promise reminds us the blood Jesus spilled was not in vain. God’s promise proves the bloody cross was not a mistake. Jesus knew what He was doing, and He accomplished God’s plan as only the Son of God could. Good Friday hurts deeply, and although weeping may last for a night, joy promises to come with the morning.

Holy Week Reflections πŸ’–

*THE SERVANT*

(Maundy Thursday)

πŸ™ Read: John 13:1-17

Jesus sat with his friends in an upper room in Jerusalem. They had shared the Passover meal before, but this time it would be different. The disciples believed Jesus was the Son of God and they knew the Scriptures well. They had an excellent teacher. Surely, they had read the passage in Isaiah 53 about the suffering servant. But had they connected the heaviness of that scripture passage with what they were witnessing that night?

Jesus, rising from the table, took off his outer clothing and wrapped a towel around Him. Then, with the humility of a house slave, Jesus knelt down to wash the feet of His friends. Peter tried to stop Him, but Jesus’ actions were clear and firm. Jesus was setting an example of how to serve one another.
As you serve your family, your church, and your community, do you go to the uncomfortable places to serve like Jesus? Maybe it’s a hard conversation that needs to happen. Maybe you are led to love someone in a way that feels strange or forced or outside your β€œnormal” routine. Sometimes God calls us to the uncomfortable because He knows that through our discomfort, His compassion will spread like wildfire. As you consider the weight of Maundy Thursday, embrace the heart of the Suffering Servant. Ask Jesus to show you how to serve like Him today.
