On this day, a child was born, a daughter of St. Anne and St. Joachim. A mother to our savior, and a mother to all nations. Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Before we knew her as the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, she was also just a woman named Mary. A simple woman who was chosen by God to bear the infant Jesus. She was given the responsibility of taking care of our savior. Just like us, Mary also experienced humane emotions of fear, unworthiness and worry when the Archangel Gabriel appeared onto her. She had a grace-filled openness to the mystery of God in her life.
We thank her for saying yes to God and becoming a vessel of divine love and wisdom.

The Jose R. Gullas Visayas Chorale (JRGVC) is no longer affiliated with the university, which has since established its own separate choir. JRGVC began its transition from the University of the Visayas Chorale (UVC) into an independent community choir in early 2019. Members from the chorale’s university-affiliated years are recognized today as alumni of the Jose R. Gullas Visayas Chorale and continue to participate actively in the group.
