• THE JESUIT HOUSE MUSEUM •
This plate was made for academic purposes during my third-year course called in multimedia arts called Brand Communication and Design.
Of all entities to choose from, this one spoke out to me the most because it was related to cultural arts in Cebu. To give you a brief background, The Jesuit House Museum is one of the oldest documented religious houses in the Philippines dating back to Año (Year) 1730.
Before creating the visual identity design, thorough research was done first. And yes, it meant reading through published journals and articles online... and lurking through their official social media page for information. From what I gathered, one of the challenges it faces is its concealed location within the public area with little to no signages available.
Therefore, this visual identity serves as a system for the brand to have a consistent and cohesive expression. The overall look is rooted from the museum's history and involvements with different institutions as well, seen in the color palette, typography and mockups. The logo design in particular is inspired from the Jesuit logo and the museum's history with Chinese influences and artifacts.
