The First Visayas Wide Painting Contest has finally concluded last Dec. 6, 2025 at Sibonga Old Parish Convent.
The day started with a sunny morning which allowed for plein air sessions in the Heritage Park and Sibonga Wharf Area. Balai Ortiz also welcomed the artists for a live model session and sumptous lunch for the judges.
Judging of entries commenced right away after the 2pm deadline of submission.
In the 1st round of judging, each of the 5 judges et to choose their top 6. In the 2nd round, each of the paintings where placed in individually illuminated easels for a second and better look, the top 15 where chosen. In the final round each of the artworks are scored individually, averaged, tallied and ranked. We allowed online submissions. We also have a judge who scored the top 15 online by way of sent videos and images.
The top 10 finalists received P5,000 pesos each sponsored by LGU Sibonga thru Mayor Caroline Bacaltos and a certificate.
The 1st Prize received P100,000 pesos and a certificate.
The 2nd Prize received P75,000 pesos and certificate.

The 3rd Prize received P50,000 pesos and certificate sponsored by Vice-mayor Mariano Dotis Laude.
The top 3 winners where then awarded with a special plaque made from locally sourced Manatad stones wonderfully designed and crafted by Darryl Bryan Manubag.
We thank Pob. Brgy. Captain Nestor Ponce for sponsoring another 2 finalists making all Top 15 going home with cash awards.
The opening and ribbon-cutting followed.
Dinner was sponsored by LGU Sibonga.
Jeson Ejes and John Lee won the the raffle draw for 2 easels during dinner.
We thank our esteemed judges Maestros Kimsoy Yap, Adeste Deguilmo, Celso Pepito, Jun Impas and Prof. Nathan Jay Jore.
