OSAKA, JAPAN โ Star and Cloud the Musical successfully staged its first-ever performance in Japan on April 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Osakaโs L Theater, drawing an almost full audience in the 800-seat venue.
The production deeply moved Japanese audiences, many of whom were unfamiliar with Fo Guang Shan but found the story universally meaningful. One viewer shared, โWe donโt know FGS at all, but we feel deeply touched by the story,โ while another noted, โThe content is not only for Buddhists, but also applicable to us Japanese.โ
Among the distinguished guests was Consul Fan Chen Kuo of the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka, who attended just five days after arriving in Japan and praised the musical as being of high creative and artistic quality, calling it one of the best plays he had witnessed.
Venerable Ru Quan, Head Abbess of Osaka Fo Guang Shan Temple, expressed encouragement to the team, saying, โBecause your performance is so good, we are deeply encouraged and confident.โ
The Japan tour was made possible through the support of Venerable Man Run, Head Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Japan, together with Venerable Yung Guang, Head Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Philippines, marking a meaningful cultural milestone for the production.
