’s Upcoming EP is art we can’t stop dancing to! Colorful, vibrant and tasteful!

Our efficient work flow shows that it is possible to record an EP in 3 days. Drums, bass, guitars, keys and vocals for four songs.

Coproducing these tracks with regular clients has always been productive and fun. Especially when they know the sound they’re going for! Work flow just falls into place.

Choose Your Kit — Gretsch Catalina Maple
Drums Only Episode 2B of 3
Kit: 10x7” 12x8” 14x14” 20x16”

Fun Fact: grew up with this kit (since 08/09)

All tracks produced at Sandugo Studios

Maple drum shells are versatile and ideal for genres ranging from pop, funk, jazz and even metal. Also perfect for studio use because of its well-balanced mix of clarity, punch and warmth.

This kit’s fusion sizing led us to the following genres:

Funk
— The 20 inch bass drum produces more of a “bouncy” sound perfect for funk.
— The toms aren’t too boomy and bright in relation to the coated heads we matched with the kit.
Snare: Ludwig Supraphonic LM400 14”x 5” (one of the most recorded snare drum in history)

R&B
— The slightly dampened [low-tuned] snare, and toms give the clarity and space for the whole track to come together; laid back yet pronounced compared to funk
Snare: Ludwig Supraphonic LM400 14”x 5” (one of the most recorded snare drum in history)

Bossa Nova
— The matched snare drum that came with the kit aims for a warmer, “woody” snare tone at high tuning popular with jazz and bossa nova.
— Cranking up the tuning of the toms, snare and kick to achieve the drum sound popularized by jazz.
— The only mics we used are: overheads, kick, and snare top to capture only the full sound of the kit.

Reggae
— Our kit’s smaller size, dampened toms and close miking brought the sound ideal for reggae.
— The kit’s snare—high tuned and open.

Choose Your Kit — 90’s Vintage Pearl Export Drums Only Episode 1B of 3
Kit: 12x10 ” 13x11” 16x16” 22x16”

Fun Fact: This kit was our workhorse during our residence at Eastside Events.

Snare: Ludwig Supraphonic LM400 14”x 5” (one of the most recorded snare drum in history)

All tracks produced at Sandugo Studios

Grunge/Post-Grunge
— The toms’ size gives a roomier and thunderous sound that cuts through loud guitars.
— Compared to modern kits with 22x18” bass drum sizes, this 22x16” has a shorter sustain whilst retaining lots of low end punch without it sounding muddy.

Indie Folk
— The 13”, 16” toms with a little bit of dampening and its beautifully aged wood allowed a big warm tom sound ideal for this style.

Smooth Soul/70s
— The aged wood and cloth dampening highlights the vintage drum sound and its full warmth though dampened.

Slow Rock
— The toms’ size gives a roomier and thunderous sound for a more stadium like drum sound ideal for slow rock.
