IN PHOTOS: On September 11, 2026, third-year Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing (BSEMC) students presented their creative concepts at the Animation Production Pitch Labs 2026, held in Faber Hall Rooms 202โ203 at Xavier University โ Ateneo de Cagayan. Pitching as emerging creative start-ups, the student teams anchored their presentations on the theme, โMore than the Pipeline.โ
The program opened with remarks from EMC Department Chair Ms. Joie Ann Mac, followed by an inspiring message for the participants from College Dean Dr. Meldie A. Apag. Pitching teams presented to a distinguished panel of EMC faculty membersโMs. Janelle Samaniego, Mr. Patrick Marlowe Oliva, and Ms. Mikee Aranjuezโalongside guest panelists Ms. Gwendy Gall, founder and admin of Northern Mindanao Animation Professionals and Enthusiasts, and Mr. Andromel, Creative Director of Almeda Visuals.
During the pitching proper, the students showcased a wide spectrum of visual storytelling: Inky Pictures introduced a modern urban fantasy centered on three friends bound by a cursed box, balancing supernatural gifts against personal conflict. Studio Stergon presented Ego Sum, exploring themes of independence and self-reliance in a fragile reunion that breaks into a reality, making returning difficult, ultimately culminating in a poignant farewell. Indie-cisive Studiosโs local-centered story Parol captured the spirit of the upcoming holiday season with a wholesome story set in a simpler time, following a family crafting traditional parols as a way of life.
Following the pitching sessions, an awarding ceremony recognized the participating studios and guest panelists, followed by closing remarks delivered by Mr. Kryzler Louie Baac. The event concluded with an open networking session, offering students a valuable opportunity for consultation, guidance, and professional connection with both their peers and local industry experts.
The Animation Production Pitch Labs is an activity for 3rd-year EMC students to refine their concepts alongside industry standards and contemporary narrative trends. Showcasing promising talent in animation, filmmaking, and visual art, this yearโs lab offered a glimpse into the future of student-led creative enterprise at Xavier Ateneo.
