Hello.
If youโre not yet familiar with Oro Teatro Bulawanon, hereโs a simple introduction:
OTB was established in 2016, although the group started staging shows in 2013. November 2016 was when we first staged a full 3-act play. Our previous productions were all fundraising shows for the VDay movement to end violence against women & girls.
Prior to 2016, we staged Eve Enslerโs โThe Va**na Monologuesโ in various venues from 2013 to 2019. Post-COVID 19, we did a video production of โStories From the Heartโ, which featured selected monologues from TVM and original pieces written by some of our members and friends. To date, weโve staged SFTH twice - in 2023 and 2024.
Our other advocacy is LIMA: The HIV Monologues. The first staging was in 2015 and this was followed by productions in 2017 and 2019. Post-pandemic, we partnered with Rotaract Club of Kalayaan CDO to stage the monologues in a reimagined format. We did HIV Monologues (with permission from creator/primary mover Stephen Christian) in 2022 (Liceo Civic Center), 2024 (Bgy. Kauswagan), and 2025 (retitled to โRed Ribbon: Music, Monologues, and Dances on HIV & AIDSโ and performed with the SHS students of Bgy. Tablon as audience).
SFTH and LIMA/Red Ribbon are two of our major advocacies.
Our other advocacy is to provide a venue for aspiring thespians/artists to explore, discover, nurture, and hone their craft. We partner with schools and communities and conduct performance arts workshops.
We also offer production services/consultancy to schools, organizations, and other communities for their theatrical or performance arts-related projects.
Weโve provided artistic & production services (choreographers and vocal coaches) to Academy of International Education (AIE) since 2023.
In 2024, our artistic director Maia Nery Fortich Poblete, head choreographer Henzieh Gabriel Fernandez Nagac, and actor/musical director Dawid Rosh worked with The Abbaโs Orchard School in bringing to life the story of โJoseph the Dreamerโ for their 25th anniversary. The shows were staged here in CDO, in Cebu, Davao, and Metro Manila (for the NCR campuses).
Our official advocacy partners are Rotaract Club of Kalayaan CDO and 7HS Media Productions. RAC Kalayaanโs ALAMPAT, a series of workshops for the abused, abandoned, and orphaned girls at the CSWD Home Care for Girls, is one of our major advocacies.
Our biggest project, so far, was Ang Paglaya: The Musical. Written by our artistic director based on a straight play she wrote in 2019, it featured original compositions by some of our members. We staged it at Rodelsa Hall in August 2022. We brought the show to Camiguin in December 2023, with SHS students as our audience. We also conducted intensive workshops for the students. We focused on acting, dance, music/singing, make-up, stage management, and costume design.
Last year, we werenโt able to stage our original plays as planned because we gave way to our advocacies and partnerships. This year, we are hoping to bounce back (again) and bring to life the stories we want to share with our audiences.
