The Third College of Arts and Sciences Art Exhibit successfully unfolded on February 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM on the 2nd Floor of the WAC Building, bringing together students, faculty members, and guests for an inspiring afternoon of artistic expression.
Carrying the theme βKalinaw sa MINDanao,β translated as βPeace in Mindanao and Mental Health,β the exhibit showcased a diverse collection of paintings created by Art Appreciation students. These works conveyed powerful messages of peace, cultural pride, unity, and resilience. Each display invited viewers to reflect not only on aesthetic beauty but also on the deeper social meanings behind the artworks.
The event was held under the leadership and support of Dr. Salvador Dela PeΓ±a III, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, whose commitment to promoting artistic and cultural initiatives among students continues to strengthen the collegeβs creative and academic community.
The exhibit was further enriched by the presence of its featured artists, Mr. Joe Bacus, a faculty member under the Department of Languages and Communication and a filmmaker, and Dr. Venus Apdian, Faculty Member and CAS Research Coordinator, as well as a visual artist specializing in painting. Their works were also featured in the exhibit, inspiring students and attendees while highlighting the role of art as a powerful medium for expression, storytelling, and social advocacy.
Serving as judges for the exhibit were Dr. Venus Apdian, Mr. Roger E. Odron, Director of the Office of Cultural Affairs, and Ms. Maria Rochelle Mie O. Miano from the La Castilla Museum. Their expertise contributed to the evaluation and recognition of the studentsβ artworks.
The event was made possible through the collaboration and support of Cinetrato: Liceo de Cagayan Cinema and Photography Club and the College of Arts and Sciences Student Body Organization, whose assistance helped bring the exhibit to life.
More than an artistic gathering, the exhibit became a collective call for continued kalinawβpeace within Mindanao and within ourselvesβthrough understanding, expression, and unity.
