Kagay-anon films take the spotlight as 𝘾𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙤 brings local stories and creativity to the big screen at Limketkai on August 19, 2026, from 10 am to 9 pm

The film screening brings together Cagayan filmmakers, students, youth, and aspiring film enthusiasts to celebrate the art of filmmaking and showcase the creative talents of local storytellers.

The event aims to highlight the artistic expressions and filmmaking capabilities of Kagay-anons, giving local creators a platform to share their stories, perspectives, and imagination through film.

Through the collaboration of Cine de Oro and Limketkai, the event provides a space for the local film community to connect, appreciate cinema, and inspire more young creatives to explore filmmaking.

More than a film screening, Cine de Oro celebrates the growing creative spirit of Cagayan, proving that local stories deserve their moment on the big screen.

Kagay-anons, both students and lovers of films! Join the celebration and show your support to local filmmakers. Watch the films, which reveal the creativity of local filmmakers. The Cine de Oro will take place in the Limketkai Cinema 3 from August 19 to 22, between 10 am and 9 pm Don’t forget to bring your friends, share the love for local films, and let’s put Kagay-anon stories in the spotlight!

On July 10, 2026, 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, together with coordinators from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), conducted a pre-production initial interview and location scouting in Barangay Lunotan, Gingoog City as part of the 𝘿𝘼𝙍𝘾𝙍𝙁𝙁 𝙋𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙪𝙡𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮𝙤 2026 project.

This exercise was a crucial part of the pre-production stage, giving the team an opportunity to become acquainted with the filming site, as well as to collect information through some preliminary interviews with the involved people. These first impressions helped the production studio and writers better understand the community and create a better story for the film.

However, besides preparing the technical aspects, the trip made it clear how important collaboration, research, and working with the local community are in the filmmaking. Each conversation, observation, and location examined helps form a story that truly reflects the lives of the people who are involved in it.

As the production moves forward, this initial phase marks the beginning of a journey dedicated to creating a film with purpose, authenticity, and meaningful impact.

𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬: 𝙲𝙸𝙽𝙴𝚃𝚁𝙰𝚃𝙾 𝚊𝚝 𝙲𝚒𝚗𝚎 𝙴𝚞𝚛𝚘𝚙𝚊

CINETRATO has always considered films as something beyond just entertainment. For us, films offer a place to learn, reflect, and share meaningful dialogues. This idea was demonstrated by the organization when they participated in the Cine Europa film festival, which took place from June 29-July 4 at the Rodelsa Theatre. During the event, a wide variety of European films were shown to audiences.

As aspiring filmmakers, storytellers, and film enthusiasts from Liceo de Cagayan University, we embraced the opportunity to experience cinema beyond our usual perspectives. Each film introduced us to different cultures, artistic styles, and narratives, reminding us that stories have the power to transcend borders and connect people through shared human experiences.

Our Cine Europa journey did not end when the credits rolled. After viewing the films we gathered as a group to talk about the films we had just seen; we talked about what we liked about the movie and how we could use similar techniques, themes and messages in our own film work. We gained knowledge from each other through these discussions and also expanded and developed our critical views of cinema which will be beneficial in our future careers in the media field.

The meeting also provided us all with a real opportunity to look to the future. The discussion of film during the meeting led us to share ideas and future plans for CINETRATO and how inspiring events such as Cine Europa help drive our creativity, collaboration, and growth as an organization.

Engagement with Cine Europe went beyond being a film festival; it was a reflection of our commitment to cinema and renewed our commitment. The experiences, visions, and feelings of the week will enrich our collective memories as part of CINETRATO's evolution and serve as an example of how some of the most important stories continue to exist long after you leave the theatre when the film has stopped playing. Fittingly, the final film ended with the quote, "The ant that eats the whale," a powerful reminder that even the smallest efforts, when driven by determination and unity, we can accomplish extraordinary things.

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BACOMM) program at Liceo de Cagayan University is celebrating a cinematic double victory as the student-led short film CAMSHOT secures finalist spots in two competitive collegiate film festivals. Directed by BACOMM student Yvonne U. Pahapay, the film has successfully bridged the gap between Mindanao and the national stage, representing the university with distinction at both UP Salida (UP Mindanao) and the long-running Piling Obra Vidyo (UP Film Institute).

In a thrilling turn of events, CAMSHOT, a film created by a group of communication arts students, has been selected as a finalist in the esteemed UP Salida and Piling Obra Vidyo. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the director, Yvonne U. Pahapay, with dedication and talent as well as the production and crew included in the making of the film. The film’s momentum began on April 13 at UP Mindanao’s Salida, where it was recognized for its unique narrative voice. The streak continued just a week later on April 21, when CAMSHOT was named a finalist at Piling Obra Vidyo in Quezon City.

Standing out in a sea of entries, CAMSHOT has been lauded for its storytelling and cinematic ex*****on. This milestone serves as a pioneering moment for Licean filmmakers, proving that local stories from Cagayan de Oro have the power to resonate on a national scale.

We congratulate the cast, crew, and production team on this outstanding achievement and eagerly await the future of aspiring filmmakers as they lead with the best example, making them a pioneering people to stand for. This milestone not only highlights their individual talent but also reflects the excellence of Liceans.
