Curious about the band's history? This is our story 👇👇👇
Brandibelly is a Philippine-based Visayan rock band from Cagayan de Oro City, formed in 2007. The band name is a play on the word “BeerBelly,” combining “brandy” and “belly.” Their sound blends pop punk and alternative-jazz influences, creating a catchy and danceable style rooted in heartfelt Bisaya songwriting. They are recognized as one of the notable bands in the Philippine Bisrock scene especially in the mindanao area.
Formation and history:
The band was formed in December 2007 by Lic Rebolos (vocals), Jerome Nalasa (guitar), Michael Cuyos (guitar), Jet Perez (bass), and Mc’borz Somoza (drums). Following a series of lineup changes, the band ultimately settled on its final lineup in 2010 composed of Lic Rebolos (vocals), Jerome Nalasa (lead guitars), Teddy Rebolos (guitar backing vocals), Adam Datoy (bass), and Adonis Berongoy (drums and percussion). However, in 2012, Jerome Nalasa opted for a more steady job out of town and was replaced by John Erickson Gloria on lead guitars, solidified the group’s direction and identity. They became semifinalists in the 2008 and 2010 editions of Nescafe Soundskool, marking their official entry into the Bisrock scene in the same year.
Brandibelly gained wider recognition when their singles “Jason” and “Asa Ka Karon” received radio airplay. In 2010, Brandibelly was commissioned to compose and record the official jingle for MAG TV NA ATO NI (a local abs-cbn tv show), which was then hosted by Cagayan de Oro native and now renowned Filipino singer-songwriter TJ Monterde alongside Maxine Monasterio, further boosting their exposure.
In 2012, they released their debut album Chikay sa Palasyo, followed by their second album Maria Clara, produced with the support of Uy Masuy Wine Factory and recorded in Cebu, the album featured their hit single "MIKAY". Over the years, the band has released notable singles including “Kaniadto” (2016), “Luwas Ka sa Ako” (2018), “Laylo” (2020), and “Ugma” (2023).
Since their formation, Brandibelly has remained active in the Mindanao music scene, performing across the region and continuing to represent Bisrock through their signature energetic and heartfelt sound.
