Often times we do not come to the Lord because of the βmessβ, ugliness, sinfulness of our lives. Kind of how we do not prefer to receive guests when our homes are topsy turvy. We forget that if the Holy Family was not deterred by the mess of a manger, God isn't deterred by whatever mess our lives have become.
To those in the brink of hopelessness,
To those who are grappling with depression, anxiety, unforgiveness,
To the poor, the hurting, to the broken,
To the unhappy,
To the sinful,
To the lonely, to the sick,
To the grieving, even to the unbelievingβ¦
He comes for you. He comes for all of us.
Remember that in Bethlehem, there were many inns and houses, far more comfortable, nicer, more presentable. But they were too full, they cannot accommodate the Lord. It was a stable, a manger that became the birthing place of the King of Kings.
So really the question is- have we made room for Him in our hearts?
