CHRIST IS RISEN, ALLELUIA!

Today, we celebrate the triumphant resurrection of Jesus. He has won over death and sin and paid for all of it.

May the time of Easter Season bring us peace and hope amidst the chaos happening all over the world. May we always remember that there is God who loves, and will continue to love us, inspite of any circumstances and if only possible, He will choose to die on the cross all over again for our sake.

1 And on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalen cometh early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre; and she saw the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

2 She ran, therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them: They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

3 Peter therefore went out, and that other disciple, and they came to the sepulchre.

4 And they both ran together, and that other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

5 And when he stooped down, he saw the linen cloths lying; but yet he went not in.

6 Then cometh Simon Peter, following him, and went into the sepulchre, and saw the linen cloths lying,

7 And the napkin that had been about his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but apart, wrapped up into one place.

8 Then that other disciple also went in, who came first to the sepulchre: and he saw, and believed.

9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

November 22 I 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚, 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 & 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲𝐫

Saint Cecilia is one of the most venerated martyrs of the early Church and is honored as the patron saint of musicians. She lived during the 2nd or 3rd century in Rome, and according to tradition, she was a noblewoman who devoted her life to God from a young age. Although she was forced to marry a pagan named Valerian, Cecilia persuaded him to respect her vow of virginity. Through her influence, Valerian and his brother Tiburtius were converted to Christianity and later suffered martyrdom for their faith.

Cecilia herself was arrested for her faith during the persecution of Christians. Despite attempts to execute her, she miraculously survived for three days after being struck by the executioner. During her final moments, she continued to profess her faith and encouraged others to remain steadfast in their devotion to God. Her body was buried in the Catacombs of St. Callistus, and later transferred to the church of St. Cecilia in Trastevere, which was dedicated in her honor.

Saint Cecilia’s association with music comes from accounts that she “sang to God in her heart” during her wedding and her martyrdom. She remains a powerful symbol of faith, purity, and devotion, inspiring musicians and Christians around the world to use their gifts in praise of God. Her feast day is celebrated on November 22.
