Earthquake! 😲
Check some of these earthquake facts on Taylor's World with Dennis Taylor Easy Rock Boracay

The recent 7.8 magnitude Mindanao earthquake has reached P1 billion in General Santos City alone!

Approximately 400 houses totally collapsed and over 1,400 sustained partial damage within the city. Multiple buildings, including convenience stores, shopping malls, and school facilities (such as Notre Dame of Dadiangas University), were also damaged or toppled.

General Santos City International Airport sustained visible damage, leading to temporary flight closures and cancellations.

Talking about earthquakes, here are more interesting facts:

1. There are several million earthquakes annually
According to the United States Geological Survey, there are around 17 major earthquakes measuring above 7.0 on the Richter scale – and one great earthquake measuring above 8.0 – each year. However, experts estimate that there are actually several million earthquakes annually; many go undetected due to their geographical remoteness or small magnitude.

2. An earthquake can affect the length of a day
On 11 March 2011, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake which struck northeast Japan altered the distribution of the earth’s mass, causing it to rotate slightly faster, and shortening an earth day by around 1.8 microseconds.

3. San Francisco is moving towards L.A.
The city of San Francisco is moving toward Los Angeles at the rate of about two inches per year. That's the same pace at which your fingernails grow. This is happening because the two sides of the San Andreas Fault are gradually slipping past one another. The cities will meet in several million years!

4. Normally, it's not the shaking ground itself that claims lives during an earthquake. It's the associated destruction of man-made structures and the instigation of other natural disasters such as tsunamis, avalanches and landslides.

5. Also save your pets! Not only is it important to have a plan for yourself in the case of an earthquake, but your pets need a disaster plan as well. Create an earthquake plan for the animals around so if disaster strikes, you’ll be prepared.

Yep, ye heard it right.

Cows produce more milk when they’re happy and music can have an affect on them. A study from the University of Leicester found that cows make 3% more milk when listening to soft rock. Other music and no music, had no effect on milk production.

Many farmers take advantage of this and play classical music or country music for their cows. Although, the original study found music like REM’s “Everybody Hurts” to be quite effective.

Just make sure those songs get "mooed" ! 🐄😄
