—One of the things that makes a “balen”—a hometown—uniquely beautiful is its language. 💬

Kapampangan, also affectionately known as Amánung Sísuan, or the “language nurtured from the breast,” carries generations of history, identity, and cultural memory of Pampanga. Rooted in “pampang,” meaning “riverbank,” the language reflects the landscapes and communities that have shaped Pampanga and neighboring areas.

Rich in expressions and nuances, Kapampangan has words and ideas that can be difficult to capture in a single Tagalog or English translation. This Buwan ng Wika, we’re celebrating the language through eight beautiful Kapampangan words worth discovering, sharing, and passing on. 💜✨

———

Which Kapampangan word is your favorite? Or is there another one you think deserves a spot on the list? Share it with us in the comments. ✨🗣️

Special thanks to Ar. Elderly (Eldry John) for helping us with this list. Dakal a salamat! 🙏
