KOMYU KAMPIL IS RESCHEDULED TO MAY 3, 2026 ⚠️

We are utterly grateful for everyone’s interest in signing up for Komyu Kampil’s Culminating Event activities: The Antipolo Suman at Kampil Heritage Walk led by Novice Magazine and our Solidarity Art Workshop + Booklet Launch supposed to occur this Sunday, April 26. 😔

However, due to scheduling and logistical considerations, we have decided to reschedule the event to May 3 (next Sunday).

Registered attendees have been sent an email earlier this morning regarding this matter. On a positive note, the new date aligns with the Maytime Festival of Antipolo, which we hope will make the experience even more vibrant and meaningful for everyone. Despite this change, we remain deeply committed to continuing our advocacy and creating a meaningful and enriching experience for all participants.

Tuloy ang paghubog natin ng kampil ng Antipolo!

Gelo Arboleda is a wildlife photographer based in Laguna whose work centers on highlighting the Philippines’ native and endemic species. Through his photography, he aims to raise awareness about local wildlife amid the growing threats to their survival.

A member of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, his primary focus is documenting the country’s rich avifauna—home to one of the highest numbers of endemic bird species in the world. His work has taken him across the Philippines, capturing birds ranging from the familiar Garden Sunbird and Yellow-vented Bulbul to the elusive and critically threatened Luzon Bleeding-heart and Philippine Eagle.

Based in Los Baños, he has also collaborated with individuals and organizations in the academe and conservation sectors, expanding his practice to include herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians) and mammals. His portfolio includes images of species such as the Philippine Cobra, Philippine Pit Viper, and the often-overlooked but endangered Philippine Long-tailed Macaque.

—As we celebrate National Literature Month this April, we’re looking back at the works that shaped the past decade, stories that don’t just reflect who we are, but question, document, and reimagine it. 📚🇵🇭

From novels and memoirs to essays and komiks, these reads capture a generation navigating identity, history, power, and change. Filipino literature isn’t static—it moves, evolves, and grows with us. ✨

Posters on Postcards: A Fundraiser for Jed Descutido 🎞️

Jed Descutido (.matism_) is a Manila-based poster designer from Bacolod, whose work has shaped the visual identity of both mainstream and independent Filipino films—from Rewind (2023) and A Very Good Girl (2023) to Gitling (2023) and Agapito (2025). Behind the images we’ve come to recognize is a creative deeply rooted in craft, storytelling, and community.

Recently, Jed was diagnosed with leukemia and is now undergoing treatment.

In support, we at Novice and The Poster Folks, together with fellow poster designers, are launching Posters on Postcards—a small but meaningful fundraiser built from the very work he loves.

Each set is priced at ₱300 and includes four (4) postcards featuring works by a single designer. Participating artists include Jed Descutido, Justin Besana (), Jermaine Tulbo (), and Merlito Pabatao (). You may also choose to donate any amount to further support the cause.

All net proceeds will go directly to Jed.

Special thanks to the designers and filmmakers who generously shared their works for this cause.

MARAMING SALAMAT! 🙌✨
