| but who are you without your urge to disappear?

they say when you want to be gone,
all you ever need is to be found
yet being seen feels like torture—
like your body giving home to something
it was never meant to hold.

there isn’t a single room
where you appear whole.
in every doorway, you shrink,
demanded to be a little less
to soften your edges
to fit in the margin

to not be too much,
just enough to be tolerable.

it’s not that you’re always ready to leave
sometimes, it’s arriving half-there
already packing moments
before they can turn to memories.

you withdraw
you fade

and you hate how natural it feels
you despise how needy you are for it
dimming from the people you swore to love
because you keep wondering
how it’s easier to vanish
than to ponder why you should remain.

sometimes your skin feels unfamiliar,
wanting to peel yourself
sometimes out of loathing,
but often, from exhaustion
sick of carrying something unbearable
yet terrified of who you’d be without it.

and maybe,
you never wanted to disappear
nor to be found
nor to be seen
because it hurts to question
whether you are both or somewhere in between.

not every season is for building, pushing, or doing more. sometimes the most meaningful work you can do is to slow down, to step back, to give yourself space. doing less on purpose doesn’t mean you’re falling behind—it means you’re choosing what truly matters, tending to yourself, and honoring the life you’re living right now. sometimes, simplicity is where growth quietly happens.
