🚨 INSTAGRAM & FACEBOOK ARE GETTING STRICTER FOR TEEN USERS
Meta has agreed to pay up to $18 billion to settle lawsuits from U.S. states alleging that Facebook and Instagram were designed to encourage addictive use among children and teens.
Under the agreement, users under 18 in the U.S. could face stricter default protections, including:
🌙 Midnight–6 AM: Access blocked by default
⏰ 2-hour daily limit: Default usage cap
🔕 School hours: Notifications muted by default
❤️ Likes & reactions: Hidden from teen users
👨👩👧 Parental controls: Stronger controls and age checks
📱 Age assurance: More measures to identify underage users
The changes are part of a 10-year settlement. Meta has denied the allegations, while the company says the new protections are intended to improve online safety for teens.
