Benedicto Cabrera, also known as 'BenCab' in the Philippines, is the best-selling commercial painter of his generation and a prominent figure in the country's contemporary art scene. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1963 after studying under José Joya at the University of the Philippines. His illustrious career has spanned five decades, and his paintings, etchings, sketches, and prints have been shown in Asia, Europe, and the United States. He now lives in the chilly northern hill station of Baguio, where he founded his own four-level BenCab Museum on Asin Road, which houses an eclectic collection of indigenous artifacts, personal works, and an overwhelming collection of paintings by contemporary Filipino artists.

Sabel is one of his identifiable pieces where Sabel was the name of a homeless vagrant who roamed the streets of Bambang, near where the artist used to stay.

We’re pretty sure that most of the people have heard about the famous “Spoliarium” before, but do you know who the artist is behind the striking masterpiece?

Juan Luna de San Pedro y Novicio Ancheta, or simply Juan Luna, was a late-nineteenth-century Filipino painter, sculptor, and political activist in the Philippine Revolution.

He was one of the first known Filipino artists. His winning the gold medal at the 1884 Madrid Exposition of Fine Arts, along with the silver medal won by fellow Filipino painter Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, sparked a celebration that was a major highlight in the recollections of members of the Propaganda Movement. The fellow Ilustrados toasted to the two painters' good health and the brotherhood between Spain and the Philippines. Luna was recognized for his work in the style of European academies of the time, painting literary and historical scenes, some with an undercurrent of political commentary. His allegorical works were influenced by classical balance and frequently depicted figures in theatrical poses.

Recognized for his pioneering use of impressionistic and his developed backlighting technique, Fernando Cueto Amorsolo, was labeled to be the country's first National Artist and nicknamed to be the Grand Old Man of Philippine Art.

Most of his artworks revolve around the local people and rural landscapes with a colorful and illuminated setting One of his notable artworks is called "The Fruit Gatherer" in 1950.
