GOLD GILDED RUN RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE "MASOCHISTIC JIVE"

Aklan-based fusion band Gold Gilded Run has officially released its new single, "Masochistic Jive," now available on Spotify.

The track holds a special place in the band's journey, as it was the very first original song they wrote when Gold Gilded Run was just getting started. Although the song was written years ago, the band decided to wait until they had grown together as musicians before recording and releasing it.

"𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐉𝐢𝐯𝐞" reflects the band's early musical influences, combining funky grooves inspired by IV of Spades, catchy melodies influenced by K-pop, and progressive metal-inspired time signatures. The result is a fusion track that captures the band's musical roots while showcasing the sound they have developed over the past seven years.

Gold Gilded Run consists of Cyd on bass, Ralph on vocals and guitar, EJ on guitar, and Lent on drums. Formed in Aklan, the four-piece band blends funk, jazz, fusion, and groove-driven rhythms into music that is both energetic and enjoyable to perform live. Their goal has always been to create songs that get people moving while maintaining their own musical identity.

With the release of "Masochistic Jive," listeners can hear where the band's story began. The single serves as a look back at their early songwriting while introducing new audiences to their evolving sound.

SOFA BOY DROPS NEW SINGLE “YEAH, SURE THE COUCH IS FINE”

Math rock band SOFA BOY from Kalibo, Aklan has released their new single, “Yeah, Sure The Couch Is Fine,” now available on Spotify.

Formed by EJ, JJ, and VA, Sofa Boy is an instrumental math rock band that lets their instruments take center stage. According to the band, the idea came from a funny dilemma, all three members are strong vocalists, and instead of choosing one frontman, they decided to focus entirely on instrumental music.

According to the band, “𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐡, 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐈𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐞” tells the story of a couple whose quiet evening slowly turns into an argument. The song opens with melodic guitar tapping that reflects the pair’s peaceful moments before shifting into fast and unpredictable rhythms that capture the tension of the fight. As the emotions fade, the track settles into a quieter ending, inspired by the familiar passive-aggressive phrase, “Yeah sure, the couch is fine.”

Blending intricate guitar work and dynamic changes, the track highlights Sofa Boy’s approach to storytelling through instrumental music.
