At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee. But he did not live in Nazareth, but in Capernaum. This city is on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: โ€œThe land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles! The people who walked in darkness have seen a light. The light that shines on them has dawned on those who sit in the shadow of death.โ€ From that time on, Jesus began to preach, saying, โ€œRepent, for the kingdom of God has come near.โ€ As Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two fishermen, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea. He said to them, โ€œFollow me, and I will make you fishers of men.โ€ Immediately, they left their nets and followed him.
And as he went on from there, he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee, in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus called them. And immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Jesus went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and healing all their diseases and infirmities.

๐‘น๐‘ฌ๐‘ญ๐‘ณ๐‘ฌ๐‘ช๐‘ป๐‘ฐ๐‘ถ๐‘ต:

After our celebration of the Christmas season and the Feast of the Santo Nino last Sunday, we now return to the Sundays of Ordinary Time. The longest season in the liturgy of our Church reminds us that the ordinary preaching of Christ reveals the extraordinary graces of God. Todayโ€™s Gospel is the beginning of Jesusโ€™ ministry in Galilee. He first proclaimed conversion because the Kingdom of God is here. This refers to the Gospel about the reign of God in our lives, that what should reign in us is peace, justice, and love. So Jesus is the light of the world that surrounds the people living in darkness. The light of Christ became the light of his interaction with human life to teach it about the Reign of God the Father. So Jesus preached about his Father and performed miracles of healing the sick. So this is the kingdom that the Lord wants to show where there is love, peace, and righteous living. And we see the light of that Word revealed in the call of those who respond to his invitation to become his disciples. Jesus called his first four disciples to be โ€œfishers of men.โ€ This is the mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel so that everyone can be saved and brought to our loving Father God. And we, as baptized Catholics, are invited to share in Christโ€™s mission by preaching his Gospel and bearing witness to it in our daily lives. Where our love, reconciliation, and righteousness toward one another are present, the kingdom of God is present, although we still hope to achieve it someday. ๐Ÿคโœจ๏ธ

Today is the Feast of St. Nino, we just finished celebrating the feast of St. Nino, a depiction of Jesus carrying the Cross. A very deep devotion of Filipino Catholics. Today is also an old devotion of ours to Jesus, a depiction of Jesus as a child, to St. Nino, various depictions of the child Jesus, but this indicates a way to be great before the Father, to be an obedient child of God. Because this is a way of being great before the Father. The invitation for us to humble ourselves, because the Father will exalt us and raise us up. because we obey the will of the Father. And those who exalt themselves, who do not obey the will of the Father, will be lowered by God and will not become great before the Father. Therefore, our devotion to St. Nino not only gives us the blessing that comes, but we will be blessed in the afterlife if we humble ourselves. The celebration of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord marks the end of the Christmas season. The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River marks the beginning of his public ministry. So we enter Ordinary Time the next day to reflect on the ordinary life of Christ as he preached the Gospel and performed miracles. Although Jesus is the Son of God and has the status of God, he humbled himself and was baptized by his cousin, Saint John the Baptist. ๐Ÿคโœจ๏ธ

Sa kaibuturan ng ating pagkatao, tayo ay may pananabik na hindi kayang punan ng anumang bagay sa mundo. Madalas nating isipin na ang hinahanap natin ay isang payapang buhay, ngunit ang tunay na minimithi ng ating puso ay ang Diyos. At sa paghahanap na ito, may katiyakan: ang Diyos na ating hinahanap ay Siya ring naghahanap sa atin.

Ang pag-aalay ng ginto, kamanyang, at mira ay larawan ng tamang pagsamba. Ang ginto ay handog ng pinakamahalaga, ang kamanyang ay pagkilala sa kabanalan ng Diyos, at ang mira ay paalala ng sakripisyong kaakibat ng pag-ibig. Ang pagsamba ay ang pag-aalay ng ating buong buhay sa Diyos bilang tugon sa Kaniyang pagmamahal.

Kapag ang Diyos ang inilagay sa pinakamataas na lugar sa ating buhay, nagkakaroon ng kaayusan at kapayapaan. Ngunit kapag siyaโ€™y napalitan, nagkakaroon ng kaguluhan. Sumunod ang mga magulang ni Hesus sa kautusan ni Moises kung kaya't dinala nina Maria at Jose si Hesus sa templo upang ipresenta sa Panginoon. Naghandog ang mag-asawa ng batu-bato o dalawang inakay na kalapati. Doon nila nakilala si Simeon, isang matuwid at debotong tao na naghihintay sa Mesias.

Nakita ni Simeon si Hesus at pinuri ang Diyos, sinabing siya na ang liwanag para sa mga bansa. Binalaan din niya si Maria na ang puso niya ay tatamaan ng sakit dahil sa anak niya.

Mula sa mabuting balita, makikita natin na si Simeon ay isang taong puno ng pananampalataya at pag-asa sa Diyos. Sa kabila ng kanyang katandaan, bukas ang puso niya sa mga plano ng Diyos, at nakita niya ang katuparan ng pangakoโ€“si Hesus, ang Mesias. Nawa'y matuto rin tayo na magtiwala at magpuri sa Diyos sa lahat ng bagay, anuman ang ating edad o kaladaan.๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿค

Gayundin, sa mga kabataan at mga nakatatanda, ang mensahe ni Simeon ay paalala na hindi hadlang ang oras upang buksan ang puso kay Kristo. Anuman ang yugto ng buhay natin, si Hesus ang liwanag na nagbibigay saysay at pag-asa. Nawa'y siya ang magsilbing gabay natin sa ating paglalakbay sa buhay.๐ŸŒ„๐Ÿชฝ

Nabalitaan ni Juan Bautista ang mga ginagawa ni Kristo sa kabila ng kaniyang pagka-bilanggo. Kaya't nagsugo siya ng mga alagad upang tanungin si Hesus kung Siya nga ang ipinangakong paririto. Sumagot si Hesus at ibinahagi ang mga himala na ginawa; nakakikita ang mga bulag, nakalalakad ang mga pilay, gumagaling ang mga ketongin, nakaririnig ang mga bingi, muling nabubuhay ang mga patay, at ipinangangaral sa mga dukha ang Mabuting Balitaโ€”mga tanda ng pag-asa at habag ng Diyos. Sinambit ng kanyang mga labi na mapalad ang taong hindi nag-aalinlangan sa kanya.

Pag-alis ng mga alagad ni Juan, pinuri ni Hesus si Juan Bautista bilang isang propeta, na siyang tinutukoy ng Kasulatan bilang ang sugo na maghahanda sa daraanan ng Panginoon. Sa kabila nito, ang pinakaaba sa mga taong pinaghaharian ng Diyos ay dakila kaysa kanya.

Noong panahong iyon, si Juan Bautista ay nangaral sa ilang ng Judea, na nagsabi sa mga tao na magsisi at talikdan ang kanilang mga kasalanan dahil malapit nang maghari ang Diyos. Siya ang tinutukoy ni Propeta Isaias bilang ang sumisigaw sa ilang upang ihanda ang daraanan ng Panginoon. Maraming tao ang pumunta kay Juan at ipinahayag ang kanilang mga kasalanan, at sila'y bininyagan niya sa Ilog Jordan.
