The SLU Glee Club (Saint Louis U

niversity Glee Club) is the resident choral performing group of the Center for Culture and the Arts of Saint Louis University since 1993. Under the hands of its conductor Normita Rio-Pablico, it has had a long tradition of concession in rendering the brunt of choral music. The group had embarked on local tours and international ventures in the United States of America. Also, the SLU Glee Club had also paved its way to China in the notable Jinan Universities Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzen. The group plunged into a more sophisticated challenge and claimed the victor title in the 2005 National Music Competitions for Young Artists held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and recently, the group was also bestowed with the Ani ng Dangal Award for Music 2015 at the National Museum of the Philippines for being the Category Winners in the Folklore and Mixed Choir Categories in the 3rd Asia Pacific Choir Games in Indonesia. In 2016, the group also bagged the Gold Prize in the 9th Fukushima Vocal Ensemble Competition in Fukushima, Japan, being the first Filipino choir to earn this award in the prestigious international competition. And in 2018, the group got a Bronze in the Classical Mixed Category at the Busan Choral Festival and Competition in Busan, South Korea. Recently, the group together with the SLU-CCA's Dance Troupe and Symphonic Band represented the country in showcasing the Filipino culture through performances at the Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival in Taiwan. The thriving value of the SLU Glee Club does not end with competence and discipline. What truly makes the group is their sincerity of effusing musicality. And with this, the SLU Glee Club continues to accord its pursuit to broadening the appreciation of choral music through genuine and proficient singing.

On August 5, 2026, the SLU Glee Club was honored to serve through music as the Louisian community gathered for the Thanksgiving Mass and birthday celebration of Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, University President of Saint Louis University, celebrating his life and 10 years of faithful service. Together, we offered our prayers of thanksgiving for his vocation and steadfast commitment to the CICM mission.

The SLU Glee Club became part of a vibrant showcase of creativity, collaboration, and Louisian talent. They brought the energy of the 80s to the stage with a lively ABBA medley, capturing the nostalgia and excitement. The performance then transitioned into Ayani Shuvuud, a traditional Mongolian song that carried special meaning as a tribute to the missionary legacy of Fr. Gilbert Sales, whose years of service in Mongolia fostered a deep connection with the country's people and culture.

The SLU Glee Club joined the Louisian community in wishing Fr. Sales a joyful and blessed birthday. May his unwavering dedication to his mission continue to inspire generations to serve with compassion, humility, and love. Happy Birthday, Fr. Gilbert Sales!

We celebrate another milestone for Philippine choral music at the 2026 Taipei International Choral Competition (TICC) held from July 28โ€“31, 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Our heartfelt congratulations to the Baao Children-Youth Choir, under the direction of Sir Emmanuel Ramos II, for being awarded the Grand Prix Champion. This remarkable achievement once again highlights the world-class excellence of Filipino choirs on the international stage.

We also take pride in the choirโ€™s performances of โ€œRagragsakan,โ€ presented in the Ethnic/Traditional Music category, and โ€œKayao,โ€ both composed by our very own Maโ€™am Normita โ€œBingโ€ Rio-Pablico. Notably, โ€œKayaoโ€ was among the choirโ€™s winning selections in the Grand Prix round, bringing Filipino music and culture to the international spotlight.

We likewise congratulate our fellow Filipino choirs who proudly represented the Philippines in this yearโ€™s competition: University of the East Chorale, University of the Philippines Manila Chorale, Baguio Central University Chamber Choir, Koro Dabawenyo, and Zamboanga Hermoso Chorale. Thank you for showcasing the artistry and passion of Filipino choral music to the world.

The SLU Glee Club was honored to perform at BEAUtiful Plates 2, a benefit concert dinner presented by the Sr. Baptista Battig Music Foundation, Inc. in collaboration with the St. Scholastica's College Manila School of Music. Held at the JHMC Cottages of Camp John Hay, the evening gathered artists in support of the 10 BEA families under the program of Dr. Bryce Fabio.

Through Tumataginting, Majesty, and Sixteen Tons, the choir celebrated Filipino artistry, proclaimed faith, and gave voice to hope through music. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for the gracious invitation and the opportunity to share our music for such a meaningful cause.

The SLU Glee Club participated in the Academic Session held on July 30, 2026, at the Fr. Joseph Van den Daelen, CICM, CCA Theatre. Through songs that conveyed hope, perseverance, and the Louisian spirit, the choir enriched the session with music that inspired the community.

The SLU Glee Club lent their voices to the Panangdayaw 2026 held on July 27, 2026 at the Baguio Country Club, beginning with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration. Through sacred music, the choir offered songs that uplifted the gathering in prayer and thanksgiving.

The celebration continued as the choir paid tribute to the University's retirees and service awardees, recognizing their years of dedicated service and contributions to the Louisian community. The SLU Glee Club extends its warmest congratulations and deepest appreciation to all the retirees and service awardees.

TIMPUYOG 2026: CCA Resident Artistsโ€™ Orientation and Induction of Officers marked the beginning of a new year for the Center for Culture and the Arts, welcoming new resident artists through the annual orientation and celebrating the induction of the newly elected officers who will lead their respective organizations.

The gathering signified the start of another chapter of learning, collaboration, and artistic growth. Through every rehearsal, performance, and shared experience, the Center for Culture and the Arts continues to foster a community united by creativity, service, and a shared commitment to celebrating culture and the arts.

As the faithful gathered in prayer and devotion, the Novena Mass in honor of Our Lady of the Atonement became a sacred celebration of faith, thanksgiving, and hope, bringing together all who sought her loving intercession.

The SLU Glee Club was honored to minister in song during the celebration at the Baguio Cathedral, offering hymns that enriched the liturgy and accompanied the faithful in prayer as they reflected on the Blessed Virgin Mary's unwavering love, humility, and faithfulness.
