In 2016, The Performance Laboratory, Inc. staged LUPAD, an adaptation of Independence by acclaimed American playwright Lee Blessing.

Through this production, PerfLab explored themes of freedom, identity, family, and finding the courage to choose your own path.

This Philippine Independence Day, we celebrate not only our nation’s freedom but also the freedom to grow, dream, and become who we are.

Through theatre, stories take flight. Through freedom, people do too.

Padayon. Teatro.

A glimpse into Games People Play by The Performance Laboratory, Inc., presented during the 12th Kuris International Theatre Festival and Workshops.

Written by Glenn Sevilla Mas
Directed by Tanya P. Lopez

Through moments of tension, humor, vulnerability, and revelation, the performance invited audiences to examine the roles we assume, the choices we make, and the invisible games that shape human relationships.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating theatre, creativity, and meaningful dialogue through performance.

And just like that, the curtains closed on the 12th KURIS International Theater Festival & Workshops.

In this photo are stories that will live beyond the festival — bustling preparations, shared meals, sleepless nights, challenging homeworks, back stage faux pax, difficult conversations, new friendships, lessons learned, and moments that changed us in ways we may only understand much later.

Some are smiling with full hearts.
Some are emotional because goodbyes are never easy.
Some are still thinking about the next production, the next idea, the next story to tell.
But all of us carry home the same thing: gratitude.

For a few days, we became one community bound by theatre, learning, and the passion to create together. And perhaps that is what Kuris has always been about — not only performances and workshops, but people finding each other through art.

From The Performance Laboratory, Inc., thank you to all our resource persons, panelists, participants, facilitators, and partners — the USLS Artists Hub, the University of Saint La Salle, The Negros Museum, USLS Maskara Theatre Ensemble, Roy’s Hotel, Teatrokon: West Visayas Theatre Network, and the Negros Occidental Provincial Government.

Madamo gid nga salamat.
Thank you for the conversations, the memories, and the theatre.

Until we meet again under another set of lights.
