NANCY BREW

NANCY BREW is an all-male quartet based in Bacolod City Negros Occidental whose sound draws heavily from the West Coast pop sound, generally referred to as “smooth jazz” and “crossover”.

They take pride in their originals being a mix of instrumental and vocal numbers that show their
various influences unified by strong hooks, vibrant grooves and solid playing while their
lyrics tackle universal themes with a dash of Zappa-esque humor and sarcasm.
Nancy Brew has played three Bacolod Jazz Festivals, 2010, 2011 and this 2018, and
the 2018 Bacolod Blues Festival and the 2019 OPM Pinoy Playlist Festival at BGC, sharing stages with national and international jazz acts. They released their 1st indie
album in 2006, and are currently promoting their second indie album, “Light Years”
available in CD format and digital format on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and other digital
stores.

Oying has worked in the field of music
since 1996. His work experience as a
Branch Manager of Perfect Pitch till 2013
paved the way to his passion with musical
instruments.
In 2014, he set up the Dobol O Percussion
Store in Bacolod, the first in the city.
He is the main percussionist and manager of Batukada de Negros, Bacolod's premiere percussion group. Batukada de Negros has performed live in numerous
locations in Negros Island.
Oying is a regular judge in percussion and drumbeating festivals around Negros and is also a session player for Nancy Brew.

He shares the legacy of music by coaching performing classes on the bongo, congas & djembe and has been President of the Percussionist Society of Negros Island (PSNI) since 2014.

Gerry Grey

Gerry Grey has for more than 30 years, formed, trained, and holistically mentored, local musicians to create their own artistic identities, infusing the jazz spirit in them.
He has focused on compositions that enable the listener to care for nature and the indigenous people. Notable was his musical collaboration with the world-acclaimed environmentalist and multi-awarded soprano saxophonist Anders Paulsson in support of the Danjugan Marine Sanctuary in southern Negros Occidental and, with world music arranger and Philippine jazz awardee Bob Aves.
For Jazz in Paradise, which his family’s social enterprise ethnic fusion restaurant has produced, he hopes this event inspires both artists and audiences, to bond and be touched by the harmony of nature and music, all for a worthy cause, in establishing a fund to aid the Ata indigenous people for medical needs and livelihood programs.

Featured vocalist Myka's love for the classics and oldies started pre-elementary. Instead of the usual Disney and kiddie songs, she prefers listening to her father's cassette tape playlist hits from The Bee Gees, Lettermen, Frank Sinatra, Astrud Gilberto, Nat king Cole etc. She admits to being a late bloomer when it comes to singing in front of crowds; and only started joining competitions in high school where she got gold on her first attempt. She represented her school in province-wide competitions and became a scholar for performing arts in her college years. After graduation, she juggled corporate life and music by working in an office from 9-6 and having regular gigs as a lounge singer for Casinos and hotels after office hours. Currently, she work full-time as a marketer for a distinguished hotel brand, and sings from time to time as a hobby.

Paul Chatman

Paul Chatman played music beginning at age 8 with violin and flute. His saxophone life began at 13 when he started playing many local and state competitions.
His professional career began at 16 touring with bassist Bill Laswell.
Through the years Paul has shared stages with many artist in the USA but his greatest personal highlight was playing on stage as a guest with Cannonball Adderly in the early 70's.

Kristina Madrigal

Award-winning and internationally renowned Kristina Madrigal is one of our featured vocalists in Jazz in Paradise! She is one of the Madrigal Siblings, Junior Grand Champion for Group Vocalists Category in the 2009 WORLD Championship of the Performing Arts. In 2010, Kristina won gold as a soloist for the SIngapore Junior Championship of the Performing Arts. One of her biggest claims to fame is being part of Pililinas Got Talent Season 2 where she made it to the Grand Finals with The Madrigal Siblings.
Before Jazz in Paradise, she has performed for shows as Front Act for artists like Air Supply, Jake Zyrus, Regine Velasquez and more!

Kiko Ramos

Kiko Ramos, known through his SoundCloud under the moniker OKIK, is a producer/DJ who loves to set the mood with a collection of hiphop, rnb, future beats, house, disco, a few classic gems, and some of his original tunes as well.

He has played alongside familiar names in the industry such as Curtismith, CRWN, Butta B, Arthur Tan, Thrones, Dante & Amigo, and a whole lot more. He has also played for notable brands, a few of which are Johnny Walker, Bacardi, and San Miguel Pale Pilsen.

Other than his frequent edits on Soundcloud, OKIK released his first beat tape, Stay Mellow Vol. 1, last November 2021 on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud and other streaming platforms. He also produced Splash by Curtismith back in 2017 which has accumulated more than 450,000 streams today. Having been in the Soundcloud scene since 2014, he has racked up more than 250,000 plays.

Self-taught through YouTube videos, Jaime is looking forward to the International Jazz Day Jam where he'll be debuting with some local jazz greats.
