Intel Lastierreโ€™s solo exhibition, ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™๐™จ, ๐™‘๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™จ, ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™‘๐™ž๐™ค๐™ก๐™š๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™š, opens at B17 Art Space. Through six paintings, she reimagines mythological narratives to confront enduring cycles of patriarchy, colonialism, and gender-based violence. The figures of Medusa, Cassandra, Persephone, Iphigenia, Andromeda, and Philomena emerge not as victims, but as agents of resistance.

Born in the Philippines and now based in San Marcos, Texas, Lastierre brings a multidisciplinary foundation to her practice, shaped by studies in architecture, engineering, photography, and art history. In 2014, she co-founded the House of Frida Gallery in Bacolod City. Her varied background informs a narrative-driven approach that threads together memory, mythology, and lived experience through contemporary image-making.

Please join us on Sunday, November 30, for an artist talk with Roedil "Joe" Geraldo, held in conjunction with his solo exhibition ๐™๐™–๐™ค, ๐™†๐™ช๐™ข๐™ช๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™– ๐™†๐™– ๐™‰๐™–?

Geraldo reflects on what it means to create in our current moment, opening space to consider how we navigate struggle, how politics and conflict shape us, and how our choices affect future generations. His work sits within an ongoing conversation about where we are headed as a community, offering room for thoughtful exchange through art.

Before the exhibition closes, we invite you to spend an afternoon with the artist and his almost four decades of multidisciplinary practice.

Artist Talk: 1:30โ€“3:30 PM
Venue: B17 Art Space, Ground Floor, Art District, Lopueโ€™s Mandalagan, Bacolod City

Everyone is welcome, including students, artists, and anyone interested in engaging with the work. We keep a space centered on respect and meaningful exchange. See you tomorrow.

In ๐˜™๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ 2, the artists channel the overlapping boundaries of society, school, family, and self into a singular focus on being present, here and now. Through their works, these students share the lens through which they see their lives, their roles, and the essence of who they are, alongside who they are becoming. The exhibition traces their journeys as they respond to the worldโ€™s calls and lifeโ€™s quiet urgings of who they are meant to be.

Mark your calendars: May 20, 2025!

We're celebrating eight years of B17 Art Space with four special eventsโ€”held simultaneouslyโ€”in celebration of Orange Projectโ€™s 20th year as a vital creative force in Bacolod.

As an artist-run and artist-operated gallery, weโ€™re excited to share a day that reflects the spirit of community, collaboration, and care.

โ€ข B17 Art Space turns 8! Looking back on the years that passed with a digital print presentation.

โ€ข A SCAN JOB event by Triangulum. Stay tuned for the schedule!

โ€ข Group exhibition: Between Sleep and Wake (Reimagined) โ€” continues our papel series, showing works by various artists. *Previously exhibited during the Intersections Art Summit.

โ€ข A fundraiser for our dear friend and fellow artist, Guen Decena.

We hope youโ€™ll join us for a day of art, connection, and a celebration of life at Art District, Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

Last weekend, on March 8 and 9, we opened ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜บ ๐˜“๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ, the residency output of Lala Monseratt for AIR vol.9, curated by Natsu Kashiwamoto. Through her work, Lala invites reflection and healing in a collective act of storytelling.

The exhibition and artist talk - attended by Tra-Travel's Qenji Yoshida and Japan Foundation's Hannah Louise Chavez - created a shared space for memory-making, emphasizing the subtle yet powerful role objects play in fostering belonging, understanding, and intergenerational continuity. The project continues to demonstrate how shared stories and emotional connections contribute to both individual and community healing.

This exhibition is proudly supported by Tra-Travel, The Japan Foundation Manila, Orange Project, and Block17.Art Space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! If you havenโ€™t visited the exhibition yet, ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜บ ๐˜“๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ runs until March 19.

Transforming hotel bedrooms into exhibition spaces was both an intriguing and exciting process. Since our collection primarily consists of works on paper, we immediately explored ways to present each piece upon arriving at the V20 Hotel. And this is what we came up with.

A heartfelt thank you to all the artists who participated and accepted our invitation, as well as to the galleries, art spaces, and creatives sharing this space with us. And of course, thank you to everyone who made this gathering possible.

We're now on Day 2 of Intersections: Peak Together 2025! If you're in Bangkok, weโ€™d love for you to visit.

B17 Art Space presents recent works by 28 artists from the Philippines. Delving into the fleeting, liminal space where consciousness and the subconscious meet, ๐˜ฝ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™ฌ๐™š๐™š๐™ฃ ๐™Ž๐™ก๐™š๐™š๐™ฅ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™’๐™–๐™ ๐™š offers nuanced interpretations of dreams. The exhibition traces the delicate, often imperceptible transitions between states of being. By primarily showcasing works on paper, the exhibition highlights the mediumโ€™s history of marks and imprints, while also emphasizing its portability as a conduit for ideas and memory.

Join us on February 7-9 at V20 Boutique Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, alongside many other collaborators from the Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan.

"In Transitory Landscape, objects are not only personal but also emblematic of broader cultural narratives. Each object imprinted in clay becomes a โ€œsite of memory,โ€ linking individual experiences to a larger communal history. This creates a living archive that preserves the emotional and cultural significance of these items across generations. By engaging with the past through these objects, the project fosters a sense of continuity and collective memory that transcends time and place."

- Lala Monseratt

Coming home this March 8 is "Transitory Landscape," the residency output of Lala Monseratt for AIR vol.9, curated by Natsu Kashiwamoto. In her work, Lala calls for reflection and healing through this collective act of storytelling. By creating a shared space for memory-making, it highlights the subtle yet powerful role objects play in fostering belonging, understanding, and a deeper sense of continuity between generations. The project demonstrates to us that the strength of shared stories and emotional connections supports both individual and community healing.

This exhibition is proudly supported by TRA-TRAVEL, The Japan Foundation Manila, Orange Project, and Block17.Art Space
