ALIGN US WITH WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE, LORD
📖”I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come to you?” ~Nehemiah 6:3

Context: Nehemiah was rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall after it was burned and torn down. Enemies Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem saw the wall was almost finished, so they invited him 4 times to “meet in the plain of Ono”. Ono was 20 miles away. If he left the wall, construction would stop and they could attack him. So instead of explaining or debating, Nehemiah gave one answer: he had a God-assigned mission Neh 2:20 and leaving his post would kill the whole project.

For All Creatives
That “wall” is your creative calling. It may be the brand you’re building, the portfolio you’re designing, the board exam you’re reviewing for, the content only you can make. The “invitations to Ono” today look like last-minute favors, trend-hopping, and scope creep. Same trap: they sound important but pull you off your post. Holiness looks like focus. God gave you 24 hours and 1 assignment per season. Protecting it by prioritizing it is how the work actually gets finished.

Name your “great work” right now in 7 words or less. Write it on paper, notes app, or lockscreen: “I am building ___ and I cannot come down.” Then set 1 boundary this week that protects it. Next time distraction knocks, don’t debate. Reply like Nehemiah, be clear and stay up there and lay today’s brick. The wall gets finished by people who refuse to come down. 🤍

CULTIVATING & STEWARDING WHAT WAS ENTRUSTED
📖In the Parable of the Ten Minas, Luke 19:11-27, Jesus wasn’t teaching about finance. He was teaching about the Kingdom. “Put this money to work” in v13 is the Greek pragmateuomai: literally “do business, trade, cultivate.” The master gives equal minas to all, which shows grace is distributed, but reward is based on stewardship. The servant in v20 buried his mina out of fear and misperception of the master. The master judges him by his own words, if he really believed the master was harsh, he would’ve at least invested it. The issue wasn’t lack of resources. It was refusal to cultivate. The result? the unused mina gets taken and given to the one who multiplied his. God entrusts, expects cultivation, and multiplies what’s put to work. He doesn’t multiply buried potential.

God gives us “minas” too: talent, ideas, vision, taste, hands that can build. But a sketch hidden in your notebook, a song unwritten, a design unshared… that’s a buried mina. God won’t multiply what we refuse to cultivate. He’s the multiplier, but He’s looking for us to use and refine. It grows the more you actually use it.

So don’t wait for “perfect timing” or “more skills.” Start with what’s in your hand today. Cultivate it, and watch God multiply it. Commit to put it to work this week. Let’s grow together, Creatives!

ORDINARY ARTIST, EXTRAORDINARY GOD
📖"For it is God who works in you, both to will and to fulfill His good purpose." ~Philippians 2:13

In its context, Paul is calling believers to live lives marked by humble obedience. The God who commands obedience is the same God who supplies both the desire ("to will") and the ability ("to work") for His purposes. Every act of faithfulness begins with God's gracious work in us before it is ever expressed through us.

For creatives, this means that our ability to notice beauty, our desire to create, and our perseverance to keep practicing are not merely products of talent or determination.
We may hold the medium that we use, but God is shaping your heart. The deeper work is God forming our character, vision, and worship through the creative process.

As you fill your schedule this week, May you connect with Him while working, "What is it that you are teaching me to see, God?"

The Creator is still at work, not only through your hands, but within your heart. 🤍

KEEP YOUR INNER CHILD ALIVE
📖”Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” ~Matthew 18:3

When the disciples asked who was the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, Jesus pointed to a child. In a world obsessed with status and achievement, He highlighted humility, trust, and wonder instead.

As creatives, we often begin our journey with drawing outside the lines and creating simply for the joy of it. Yet as we grow, deadlines, expectations, and the fear of making mistakes can slowly replace that sense of wonder.

Jesus reminds us that there is something valuable about becoming like children again in heart. The kind of heart that remains curious & creates with joy!

May we never lose the childlike imagination and create from the overflow of the Father’s Love in every stroke🎨

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
📖”Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” ~Philippians 4:6

In this context, Paul writes to the church in Philippi while he himself is imprisoned, encouraging believers not to be ruled by anxiety despite uncertainty and hardship. The verse is an invitation to shift every worry into prayerful dependence on God. Paul emphasizes “in every situation,” reminding us that nothing is too small or too heavy to bring before the Lord.

As fellow sketchers, may this remind us to encourage one another not only in creativity but also in faith. Through every idea and shared moment, may we empower and equip each other to use our gifts with courage and purpose for God’s glory.

MCP MANDALA CENTERING PLACE | BACOLOD CITY
It is a cultural place known for its artistic gatherings and unique architecture. Inspired by Mediterranean and Moorish design, its domes, arches, and textured walls stand apart from the city’s usual urban scenery.

Sketched by Jinoe Gavan captured through loose watercolor washes and ink lines. Highlighting a visual memory in Bacolod.
