OVERVIEW
In its premier season in 2009, Sikat Academy opened its doors in Iloilo to over 200 kids and mounted a spectacular 2-day Grand Finale at the SM City Activity Center. Fresh and young talents were discovered and honed to the fullest, as shy and unassuming kids were transformed into “celebrities” and featured regularly over ABS-CBN Iloilo’s favorite morning show, Sikat ka! Some of these kids were even given big breaks as talents for the top-rated MMK. When it launched Season 2…The Next Level in 2010, this phenomenal summer workshop proved to be even bigger and better as over 250 students packed the Academy, with an enriched and more exciting curriculum, with a two-day grand Shrek presentation at the SM City Activity Center. With their potentials harnessed to the fullest, Sikat Academy kids have also ruled different literary-musical competitions in the city and in the region, counting among its roster of talents SM Little Stars for 2007, 2008 and 2009, top prize winners in the ABS-CBN Inter-School Newscasting Competition, and many more. Sikat Academy’s phenomenal success broke new grounds in 2011 when it spread its wings to Bacolod. Sikat Academy Season 3 has a record 350 participants for both Iloilo and Bacolod, affirming the program’s exciting appeal to young Ilonggos and Negrenses alike. Sikat Academy 2012 promises to be bigger, brighter and better, with the theme: Sikat Academy Rocks! In previous years, the Grand Finale adopted Shrek-inspired and Disney-inspired themes. This year, we are mounting a glittering Hollywood-style concept, with kids donning the outfits of their favorite celebrity icons, with a possible red carpet parade!
