Spirit Agent Karen

Karen is one of the oldest surviving Taumanos—Spirit Masters who walk the boundary between the mortal realm and the spirit world. Among their revered ranks, she stands second only to her legendary mentor, Don Fabian Cruz, the first Taumanos and the guardian of the ancient Spirit Codex.

Karen’s origin traces back to the Spanish Era, during the height of the Katipunan resistance. She was once a fierce Katipunera, known for her fiery courage and unmatched skill. But her battalion was ambushed and slaughtered by the ghoul soldiers of the ruthless Dark Sorcerer, Gobernadorcillo Don Juan Dela Vega—a spaniard who made a pact with shadow spirits to maintain his power.

Karen was the lone survivor, rescued from death by Don Fabian Cruz himself. Seeing the strength of her soul, he initiated her into the Way of the Taumanos. Through years of grueling training—both physical and spiritual—she awakened her true nature as a Spirit Energy Manipulator.

A Spirit Warrior Reforged

Karen learned to harness the raw essence of the Afterlight:
• Channeling spirit energy into her muscles, she moves with impossible precision and strength.
• Imbuing her Meteor Rock Kampilan, she transforms the meteor blade into something divine—razor-sharp, unbreakable, and capable of cutting through dark entities as if slicing through air.
• Manifesting spirit shockwaves, she can blast enemies away, disrupt curses, or destabilize corrupted spirits.

Her Kampilan, forged from Meteor Rock fragments discovered by early Babaylan, resonates with her energy, glowing with a warm celestial ember each time she swings it. Together, they’ve destroyed countless aswang, ghoul soldiers, and shadow beasts lurking in the forgotten corners of the Philippines.

The Immortal Katipunan

Much like her master, Karen eventually obtained immortality—not through dark rituals, but through her overwhelming Spirit Energy, which halted her aging and granted her centuries of life. For more than a hundred years, she has walked among mortals under different identities, protecting them from supernatural threats.

In the present day, she serves as the Elemental Hunter of Barrio San Rafael, a quiet champion whose vigilance keeps the town safe from unseen horrors. To the common folk, she appears like an ordinary woman. But to the creatures of the night, she is a whispered legend—a spirit of vengeance wrapped in flesh.

Even now, Karen carries the memory of her fallen Katipunero comrades. Their spirits guide her, and their unfinished fight fuels her blade. Her greatest oath remains unbroken:

To protect the living, honor the dead, and ensure that no darkness like Don Juan Dela Vega’s ever consumes the land again.

Pedro "Magtanggol" Penduko: Heir of the Twin Dragon Spirits

Long before the age of cities and iron, when the islands were still ruled by mysteries older than time, there lived Apo, the first and most powerful shaman ever to walk the archipelago. Apo’s soul resonated with the primordial forces of the world, granting him mastery over two ancient spirit gods—creatures formed from the earliest breath of creation:

Bakunawa

A colossal water dragon spirit, born from the sea’s deepest trenches.
Its breath commanded tides, storms, wind currents, and the life-giving flow of rivers.

Balawis

An earth dragon spirit forged from molten rock and the roots of the mountains.
It wielded dominion over fire, stone, minerals, soil, and the pulse of the earth’s forests.

Together, Apo and his twin guardians upheld the balance between the human world (Daigdig) and the spirit world (Diwatalok), ensuring harmony between mortals, engkantos, and creatures hidden from sight.

But no balance lasts forever.

Before his final breath, Apo declared a prophecy:
“My dragon spirits shall return not as one, but divided into the hearts of twin heirs.”

The Birth of the Dragon Twins

Centuries later, the prophecy manifested.

Pedro and Pablo Penduko were born during a rare cosmic eclipse, when the moon and sun aligned exactly over Apo’s burial mountain. Locals whispered that the heavens themselves trembled that night.

At their birth:
• Pedro opened his eyes with irises shimmering like tidal waves—marked by Bakunawa.
• Pablo emerged with a heat beneath his skin and a pulse like molten earth—claimed by Balawis.

As they grew, their powers awakened:

Pedro "Magtanggol" Penduko

The chosen heir of Bakunawa, granting him:
• Manipulation of water, air, storms, and sacred rivers
• Healing through water and spiritual breath
• Sonic water-pressure waves
• The ability to summon a partial dragon form—scales of deep blue and sea-green light
• A calm heart and a heroic spirit that resonated with humanity

He trained under old shamans, learning humility and compassion. Soon he became the protector of the people, helping farmers, guiding lost travelers, and battling engkantos that crossed the boundaries.

He was known as:
“Magtanggol”—The Guardian of the Masses.

Pablo Penduko

Heir of Balawis, destined to command:
• Flames from within the earth
• Manipulation of stone, roots, minerals, and hardened soil
• Earthquakes and volcanic heat
• A monstrous baluti (stone-scaled armor) form
• The roar of Balawis—a firestorm that disintegrates anything in its path

But Pablo’s heart burned differently.

He wanted prestige, reverence, and unmatched power.
He believed humans were unworthy—weaklings who abused nature, corrupted lands, and prayed only when afraid.

In his bitterness, a dark engkanto lord named Daygong Makilimlim whispered temptations to him. Pablo sought forbidden rites in the spirit world, consuming the essence of malevolent engkantos until his humanity corroded.

He abandoned his name…

And was reborn as:

Minukawa

A fiery, stone-winged monstrosity—the shadow reflection of Bakunawa’s grace.

No longer a guardian, he became a tyrant of Diwatalok, ruling over wicked engkantos and spirits driven mad by corruption.

Twin Brothers, Twin Worlds, Twin Destinies

The prophecy had come true—but not how Apo intended.
• Pedro, the Hero of the People, protects Daigdig, keeping harmony between mortals and the unseen.
• Pablo, now Minukawa, dominates the Spirit World’s dark realm, waging war against tribes of noble engkantos and threatening to merge the two worlds by force.

Their rivalry became legend:
• Where Pedro healed, Minukawa burned.
• Where Pedro saved, Minukawa conquered.
• Where Pedro sought balance, Minukawa sought dominion.

Their battles shake mountains, split seas, and blur the boundaries of reality.

Yet beneath the hatred, a faint thread remains—they are still brothers, and the true destiny of the twin dragon spirits remains incomplete.

A New Prophecy Begins

Ancient babaylans whisper of a final vision:

“Only when the Water Dragon and Earth Dragon clash under a crimson eclipse will the true heir of Apo arise.”

What this means—no one knows.
• Will Pedro redeem his fallen twin?
• Will Minukawa devour the Spirit World and invade the human realm?
• Or will the dragons fuse once more into a single, unstoppable god?

For now, two worlds stand on the edge of collapse.

And only Pedro Magtanggol Penduko, wielder of Bakunawa’s sacred power, stands between peace and oblivion.

POWER LISTS

A. Pedro "Magtanggol" Penduko — Heir of Bakunawa

“The Tidecaller. The Storm-Born Guardian. The Shaman of the People.”

Pedro’s powers reflect fluidity, life, storm, intuition, and balance—the nature of Bakunawa itself.

• The “flow of fate” in water currents

This makes Pedro not just a warrior, but a spirit guide.

When threatened or enraged, Pedro can synchronize fully with Bakunawa’s ancient consciousness.

Effects:
• His voice echoes like a dragon
• Waters within kilometers begin to rise

In this state, Pedro rivals the might of the ancient Shamans of legend.

B. Pablo Penduko / MINUKAWA — Heir of Balawis

Minukawa’s powers embody fire, destruction, strength, rot, and domination—the nature of Balawis pushed to its darkest extreme.

• Accelerate plant growth into monstrous forms
