Reality Sandwich is an ongoing, place-responsive, subaltern video series that unfolds through performative encounters with artists across diverse geographies. Inspired by absurdist gestures and relational practices, each episode begins with a single question—“What does a Reality Sandwich mean to you?”—and evolves through unscripted, daylong collaborations with local practitioners. Filmed in cities such as New York, Gwangju, Shanghai, Bacolod, Seoul, Rotterdam, Jogja, Kawasaki, and Riyadh the series resists conventional documentary structure, favoring instead a poetics of slowness, improvisation, and affective entanglement.

Operating between art and life, fiction and observation, Reality Sandwich offers a quiet resistance to the extractive gaze, proposing instead a relational epistemology rooted in slippage, tenderness, and shared vulnerability.

Moving Grounds: A Survey of Contemporary Moving Images

Thumbnail Gallery presents a selection of works in video, animation, and experimental film. This exhibit reflects how moving images shift across form, function, and intention, capturing both the personal and the political, the digital and the handmade.

This year’s theme, Watching From Elsewhere, considers the moving image as a bridge between places, people, and realities. Through phones, screens, broadcasts, livestreams, video calls, archives, and social media feeds, we encounter wars, disasters, protests, celebrations, departures, and everyday lives unfolding elsewhere. These images can make distant events feel immediate, but they can also reveal the limits of what a screen can show.
