Lo Sostenido: Dación en Pago attests to the quiet strength and resilience of Filipino families, particularly the remarkable fortitude of women, especially mothers, who embody the power to endure instability. This reflects a profound nuance of endurance, persistence, and unwavering resolve amidst challenging whirls.
The collection presents a striking contrast between delicate light and rugged texture, showcasing earthen vessels that symbolize the mending of fragmented, stringy forms. These elements are stretched and drawn out, reflecting the emotional journey of determination, vigilance, and reconstruction.
It delves into personal value and the weight of nurturing, serving as a visual echo of the quiet yet impermeable tribulation carried within the abode. The fragments articulate threads of threshold, admission, and protection, illustrating the boundaries within a dwelling.
This concept celebrates the power of silence as a form of wisdom, honoring fidelity to reality and the quiet resilience of the human spirit. Utilizing both wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics, Luistro emphasizes the concept of fragments as sources of fostering strength.
She stretches and mends clay to symbolize how the self and home both support and repair one another. Her toil redefines sacrifice as an act of generosity and portrays flexibility as a form of endurance, ensuring that adaptability does not equate to self-erasure.
Her artistic approach harmonizes texture and light in a manner that feels contemplative rather than overwhelming, creating an environment where resilience can be expressed. The result is an account that transforms hidden strength into a concrete, creative experience.
