I've been busy lately conceptualizing a very big idea that I made one of our rooms upstairs into a mini-gallery and I hope that it would soon be a reality. Anyway, while conceptualizing this idea, I manage to put into reality a concept that I talked before about geometric realities where mountains are triangles, clouds are rectangles and trees are circles. Finally I finished it while multi-tasking. It turned out fine. By the way. The mountains are not suspended in mid-air. The fog is just too thick that It appears like layers of gray rectangles or one big solid gray. Nature really is so wonderful to behold. Hope you like it. God bless everyone! :-)

"Colorful Sky"

Experimented on graphic and wavy shapes with crosshatchings as texture and some gradients. This actually blew me away after I finished it. One of my friends told me that it's bold and beautiful. Another one said that it's colorful and interesting. My wife also gave her approval saying this is something different and unique. Truly an improved version of my other experiments. I'm still experimenting but this is indeed the style to beat and most likely I'd be making more of this kind of artworks. I want to know your comments below and I hope you like it. This is a bit impressionistic because I used colored crosshatching and not the usual gradient that could appear realistic. Also by doing this, it created a lovely texture. I loved the result. Most likely I'll be experimenting more in the near future with this style. I hope you like my artwork for the week. God bless everyone. :-)

This is to honor my university, the University of the Philippines DIliman. I graduated from the College of Fine Arts back in 1993. Such a long time ago. Even until now I could still hear our anthem until the very last line... Long live the hope of the country... Come to think of it, being the hope of our country might be a little bit broad or general. Let's just first be the hope in our communities specially in our respective families. From there it can eventually expand not only nationally but internationally. Hope you like my pen sketch. God bless everyone. :-)

"Woman on a Carabao"

Because of the weather, I got sick and it's only now that I'm able to post one of my works again. This is a pen and ink showing a woman on a carabao holding an umbrella. Maybe my message for this is whether it's sunny or rainy, always bring an umbrella. We don't know what the future brings so be always prepared. Prayer for those in Gensan and some other parts of the country who experienced earthquakes. Be safe always. Hope you like my pen sketch. God bless everyone. :-)

Semi-Abstract Tree02

I found an old artwork. Same year as the other semi-abstract tree. Two years ago, I've been looking for a new way or new style to render a tree and this is the second attempt. This is also highly graphical just like the first one. But after making this second one, I wasn't able to make a third attempt. I wanted to create a style that I could also use in other things aside from trees. Maybe I'll make a third attempt sometime soon. Maybe another graphical tree, a graphical sunset or even a graphical self portrait. God knows. I hope you like this. God bless. :-)

"Round Tree"

Have you seen a round tree? Me neither. I've seen an inverted cone-shaped tree before but never a perfectly round tree. They say imagination can expand things. It let us see things in our minds that we don't usually see using our pair of eyes. And so I made this round tree so that I could see it using my pair of eyes. Then it hit me. I could experiment on this even more and maybe call it geometric realities where trees are round, mountains are triangles and clouds are just wavy rectangles. It's kind of surrealistic don't you think? Hope you like it. God bless. :-)

"The Shack"

I found an orange wallpaper this time and immediately thought of a sunset as a subject for it. I first added a setting sun on the wallpaper without adding additional sunset colors because the color, texture and pattern of the wallpaper were more than enough to make it beautiful. Next is the subject for the foreground and I thought of this feeling that what if you wake up each morning to a glorious sun with the mountains and the sea and your house is elevated because it's somewhere near a cliff. And in the afternoon, the same sun, sea and the mountains will be there to tell you to rest because it has been a great day. With this in mind I started doing the artwork. It turned out nicely. Sea Turtle

I saw a blue wallpaper recently and immediately thought of composing something. I could use the wallpaper as a sky or as the sea because both are blue in color. And then I thought of the sea turtle and their preservation. This goes to all the sea creatures that need protection as well not only the sea turtles. So as an advocacy, I decided to use the blue wallpaper as the sea and created a sea turtle on it using some colored oil pastels. Hope you like it. God bless. :-)

I used this subject before but I used watercolor on watercolor paper and it was actually my very first post here in this FB page. The same artwork was also a part of my very first art exhibition in Malate Manila and was the first one to be purchased on the spot. You see several years ago, I was part of a program called Access Philippines. Its mission was to bridge the gap between the Christians, Muslims and Lumads in Mindanao. Specifically the program was about inter-faith dialogue and conflict resolution in Mindanao to build Peace and the graduates of the said program would be the ones to start their own respective programs starting in their own communities with the hope that their programs would inevitably be implemented nationwide as well. I was not a participant of the program but I was hired by mom to be a videographer and video-editor of a series of seminars. My mom used to be the in-country project coordinator of Access Philippines. Actually I did more than video documenting and video editing. I actually took photos of the participants wearing their gorgeous attires as subjects for my paintings. I also visited their communities in Mindanao. We also had several books and magazines about Muslims and Lumads in Mindanao. They're now in a library somewhere in Mindanao. I also used some pictures in magazines and books as artwork subjects. This is why a lot of my paintings shows Muslims and Lumads eventhough I'm a Catholic and 8 of them were actually exhibited in Northern Illinois University in the U.S.A. A professor bought all 8 water color paintings for their museum. It was an honor indeed to have some of my works in the U.S.A. As parting words, let me leave you with this. We all came from different communities, religions, beliefs and more but I hope that we can all have this one goal to live in Peace. Don't burn bridges but bridge the gap. Don't remain silent believing in your own understanding. Talk things out until everything is resolved. The journey towards Peace may have a rocky and a narrow path but inevitably Peace can be attained. Peace is possible and the doorway to Peace is Love. I hope you like my artwork.
