Presenting The Astana’s collection of vintage Sarao horses.

The "Sarao horse" refers to the iconic stainless steel hood ornament found on Sarao Motors jeepneys, the legendary "Kings of the Road" in the Philippines. Representing a riderless, saddled horse on springs, it honors founder Leonardo Sarao's roots as a kalesa (horse carriage) driver.

Introduced by the founder who grew up as a horse rider, the ornament is built on springs so it gives the illusion of trotting while driving.

Historians note that the hood horse serves as a bridge between the country's past and present, representing the kalesa (horse-drawn carriage) that was the most popular mode of transport before the jeepney.
