Moresby Arts Theatre Port Moresby's own community theatre, entertaining since 1912 The Moresby Arts Theatre is one of the oldest clubs in Port Moresby, established around 1912.

With a long tradition of supporting the performing and creative arts, the MAT is a community theatre that is available for hire. With space for around 70 seats in the auditorium following the Covid safe practice of social distancing, we stage our own productions, as well as productions from local schools, as well as international acts. We also have extensive grounds, where we host a monthly craft

market where you can browse through paintings, weaving, jewellery, wood carving and stone carving from across PNG. It's held on the second Saturday of the month! Keep up to date with our events through our facbook and instagram page or become a member!

The rivalry returns!

Queensland Marrons take on the New South Wales Blues in Game 1 of the State of Origin series, and we're bringing the action to Moresby Arts Theatre.

Joins us Wednesday 27th of May footy, food, drinks and Origin atmosphere on the big screen.

Kick off starts at 8pm.

Come in early,grab a drink and settle in before the game begins.

This Friday. Join us at 6pm for our MAT Social Night and the official ribbon cutting for our new backstage roller door.

After more than two decades our backstage door has finally been replaced. This upgrade marks an exciting improvement to our theatre and will make backstage access much easier for everyone.

A big thank you to the Incentive Fund for their generous support in bringing this to life.

Join us this Friday at 6pm for our MAT Social Night and the official ribbon cutting of our brand new backstage roller door.

For over twenty years, our backstage door has served us well. Now it has been upgraded with a new roller door.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Incentive Fund for their generous support in making this upgrade possible. This improvement will greatly enhance backstage access and uplift our theatre space for everyone.

Moresby Arts Theatre’s Youth Arts Programme Plus (YAP+) is an extension of our longest running education programme, the Youth Arts Programme.
In this first education programme for the year, we will explore the theme “Pure Imagination” and discover what young creatives can bring to life.
Spots are limited, so be sure to register early by emailing [email protected].
All registered students are required to attend a Safeguarding Workshop deferred to:
