The management of Dhofar International Theatre Festival (DIT Fest) has announced launching its second edition between (14-22) September, 2026. Basically, it is a theatrical event that has solidified its presence on the Arab and international cultural scene following the fabulous success of the first edition.
Chairman of Dhofar Municipality and head of the festival’s Executive Committee, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsin Al-Ghassani, stated, “The Dhofar International Theatre Festival represents a strategic cultural project that reflects the cultural and civilizational standing of the Dhofar Municipality and the Sultanate of Oman. It also highlights the commitment to supporting arts as a bridge for communication between peoples and cultures. Indeed, international recognition is not only achieved through hosting global events, but also by granting opportunities to local talents in order to exchange experiences and knowledge with leading international productions. Hence, the second edition emphasizes that DIT Fest has become a prominent cultural event on the calendar of Arab and international theatrical festivals.”
On his part, DIT Fest chairman, Ammar bin Obaid Ghawas, emphasized that the festival’s management -during a meeting of the Executive Committee under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsin Al-Ghassani- has approved three main tracks for the participating competitions and performances in the second edition. The first track is entitled the Elite Performances and will feature the participation of prominent Arab and international theatrical productions that have won awards at major internationally accredited festivals. There are also the winning and special performances of the first DIT Fest. This ensures the presentation of high-level theatrical experiences with a grand prize of $50,000.
Ghawas added, “The second track focuses on Grand Performances. It is the international competitive track which receives nominations for theatrical productions from several countries and continents across the world, competing for the Best Integrated Theatrical Production Award, with a grand prize of $50,000. The participating performances will be selected through a watching and selection committee that includes leading specialists and theatrical experts, based on precise technical standards that ensure the quality and diversity of works.”
Regarding the third track, it is the Dhofar Theatre. It aims at granting opportunities for local theatrical productions by artists and innovators in Dhofar Municipality to launch towards broader horizons.
