Sunset or sunrise? 🌅
I was commissioned by Abdullah Ismaili to complete this painting of a Huey helicopter that he was familiar with having flown in his time spent as a pilot. The painting was intended to accompany a poem that he composed regarding his experience with flying the aircraft. Poetry and creative writing is something he has taken up since his retirement in the Omani military.
Completing this commission was a great pleasure. I really appreciate the challenge of capturing a unique subject matter with techniques and materials that I had never used before!

Sunset or sunrise? 🌅
I was commissioned by Abdullah Ismaili to complete this painting of a Huey helicopter that he was familiar with having flown in his time spent as a pilot. From time to time you can find me on Broad Street!
From the joy of confetti filled Super Bowl and parade celebrations to mundane strolls down the avenue to the grocery store an a dreary Tuesday afternoon. This street captures so much for me, everything exuberant, everything mundane and everything in between!
It is a true honor and a privilege for me to be able to share my creations with you. Thank you for your encouragement and support, they mean the world to me!

DETERMINATION. 🔗
That is the key. Aside from any rooting interest, that’s what I feel like Jalen embodies. When I create, that’s what I strive to embody. When I reflect upon my work, any particular technique or skill is not the first thing that I notice. The thing that I pride, first of all, is the determination that I had to embody to complete the work.
I’ve been quiet on here for a while, but I’ve been hard at work during that time. I’m so happy to be able to share with you the culmination of my determined efforts. This has been the biggest and most challenging painting that I’ve ever completed.

Feeling
I’ve been away for a while, it feels so great to be back! Amazing! This little beauty is a Yellow Finch. They can be most commonly found on the grasslands of North America. With this painting I tried to mirror the balance of the bird by splitting the composition between lines and circles.
Any suggestions on what I should paint next? I’d love to hear them!
