Whangārei RSA The Whangarei RSA extend a very warm welcome to members, affiliated members and their guests.

Whangarei is well known to be the 'Gateway' to Northland and the sub tropical north with its sun, sand, great fishing and the mighty Kauri (Tāne Mahuta) which is so steeped in history and mythology. The Whangarei RSA is also steeped in its own history dating back to its establishment in 1925. It now boasts a strong membership of circa 1800, securing its place on the club scene and providing an excellent service and a safe environment to enjoy for members and prospective members living throughout the Whangarei and Northland community.

!!!HELP US IDENTIFY THIS THIEF!!!

On Saturday at 1:14pm the person pictured entered our property at 16 Hannah Street and took a canvas photo of Anzac Day at Laurie Hall Park which was generously donated to us.

The same person has then returned on Monday at approximately 7:30pm and continued tearing down posters from our walls and notice board.

We want the canvas photo returned immediately. We are giving the person responsible until 11am Friday 16 October 2026 to return it before we make a report of theft to the New Zealand Police.

If anyone recognizes this person, or has any information about the missing canvas, please get in touch with us via email at

The Whangārei Returned and Services’ Association regrets to inform the community that due to safety concerns and adverse weather conditions, the 6:00 am Dawn Service at Laurie Hall Park, Whangārei, has been cancelled.

The 10:00 am service at Maunu Cemetery is expected to proceed, but will remain subject to weather conditions on the day.

This decision follows advice received from the Whangarei District Council, Met Service, and Civil Defense regarding the uncertainty of the weather. The final decision has been made by the Whangarei RSA.

Thank you for your understanding.

A message from RNZRSA National President, Tony Hill:

As we head into the Easter weekend, I want to wish you all a safe and restful break.

I know many of you have already begun your Poppy Appeal activities while continuing the important work of supporting your local RSAs and the veterans in your communities. Thank you for the commitment you show every day.

As we move closer to Anzac Day, it is also a timely reminder to reach out to those who may never ask for help, but who still need to know that their RSA family is there if they need it.

To our younger generation of veterans, and to those currently serving, please know that we see you and value your service. You are always welcome to parade and march with us as part of the wider RSA whānau.

As we continue through our 110th year, I am reminded of the words that guide our work: “We served, we support, we remember - for today and for tomorrow.”

Thank you for the good work you are doing in your communities.
