I trusted the process, and I think it came out not too bad adding more good leaf to the centre.
The earlier mistake has made me develop a new skill by creating a way to merge colours through spray painting and so it's something I'll bring into future works!

Not my usual thing but part of the Nga Manu exhibition needs a bird sculpture of any medium or style to hang in the window. So here's my offering and my 1st attempt at clay.
I'm 100% gonna try play with clay more in the future as I feel there's something there I can do for future works.

Didn't have really any in the making pics of the Kererū work, but here's a pic of me in action and the gold leaf work going in.
Saving all the "scrap" gold in a jar for now I feel. I'll have a use for it one day! If people have ideas about what to use it for please let me know!

OK, second bird for the Manu exhibition in Kohukohu, Hokianga!
Tried my best to do a Kereru in the same sort of style as the Piwakawaka. Been fun getting a lil more painterly this time around!
And sorry I didn't really do any development photos of this work except a after spraypaint review. Which I always find exciting to see how it looks!

I posted a pic of this work a while back before my artist page was created. But here's the background work that went into it. This is for the Nga Manu group exhibition in September in the Hokianga. Just need to do one more work and a small bird sculpture for the entry.
Birds or any animals in that matter I'm not too good at doing, so it's been fun to try and be a bit more skilful and technical in my drawings.
I'll post up the final result in the next day or 2 once it's all looking good!

Gonna try switch it up and work on something that's still on the round board but see what else I can explore.

Morning sunrises for morning inspiration.
In Oakura this weekend and love the sunrises here. Also is where I have my ideas for my art works, this iswhere I got the idea to add gold leaf to my works and see the ripples of the water and replicate it in my own way into the modelling paste.

Always loved the "Poutama" pattern. So for my first time I gave it a go. Had the idea of waves and the ripples of the water to try put into the paste as I went along. Even had my lil guy come give me a hand... does make the process a lil longer! Haha
Was nice to see what happens as you take the tape off and see I it all works out. Also gives a few other ideas for future works too.
The final result I'll post up tomorrow.
