The sea horse has taken a while to get to. Made in 2 parts to allow for size (66cm tall without stand) and the fact that it is glazed all around - fully 3d and made for the garden .... but I quite fancy some copper on that front scroll design. Time for a bit more research.

And then a bit of woodland wonder. Not designed for functionality but so nice to see.

I'm devastated. Digitalfire is being 'shut down'. It is the site I have used constantly to find reliable practical information. It is technical enough to give an understanding of the science but always readable for the interested amateur. This is a real reflection of where the internet is going, tearing down the free, intelligent, factual, reliable, impartial information and promoting marketing, YouTube click bait and internet slop. 🤬Thank you Tony Hanson for all you have given

Like many potters who scroll through the internet for new ideas I've seen lots and lots of 'frozen pond effect' pieces and loved the look. What I wasn't keen on was the cost of buying Spectrum 'Running Hot Chowder' which, including postage ended up being over $50 for a pint. So here is my own, very cheap, option that costs very very little to make if you have basic glaze ingredients. This is Frozen Pond created by making 100g of Lynnette's Opal and using 7g of ordinary washing borax dissolved in hot water to mix the glaze. I do know borax is not a recommended glaze ingredient because it is water soluble and 'unstable' but for small batches used quickly I've had no problems and nice results.

It's been a bit of a wait to gather all the 'end of class' pieces together and get everything dry but at last the kiln is ready to fire for my brilliant little evening class beginners group. Amazingly they have done a pretty good job at filling the kiln shelves. Hoping they all come out intact🤞
