When the show must go on...
You will all by now know that Aotearoa went into the RED level for our Covid-19 Protection Framework over the weekend.
Overnight I had 2 projects cancel, one that I was looking forward to learning a new skill on. While I'm sad 2 things have been cancelled, there are some amazing projects still soldiering on!
I want to shine a light on an incredible kaupapa and the tenacity and perseverance of the creative artist.
Where Our Shadows Meet is a brand new work by Hamilton based Equal Voices- Award winning international theatre and arts company passionate about inclusive and accessible work, directed by Laura Haughey.
An intergenerational story about love, loss and language, told with physical storytelling, live instrumental music by Jeremy Mayall New Zealand Sign Language, and spoken English. This piece is performed by a Deaf and hearing cast and designed to be accessible for d/Deaf and hearing audiences.
This incredible cast and crew have already had 1 part of their tour cancelled and now our Circa Theatre season in Wellington will be limited capacity due to RED level.
This group can't wait to get on the road and share their work with Wellington and Wairarapa audiences in a safe, physically distanced environment. Special thank you to Creative New Zealand for funding as it gives us creatives more opportunities to present during these times.
Please share amongst your networks for those interested in attending bi-lingual, accessible theatre.
