The history of the Whangarei A & P Society dates back to 1877 when it was originally known as the Whangarei Farmers Club. The Whangarei A & P Society has a proud history of promoting agricultural and pastoral interests and is the largest A & P show north of Auckland. It is the jewel in Northland's agricultural and entertainment crown, and continues to build on a long and successful reputation of b
ringing the country to town. The Society is a not for profit organization and is registered as a Charitable Trust. It is incorporated under the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Act. We have a strong membership base and anyone is eligible to become a member. The Society is run by an Executive Committee (or Board), who are duly elected officers from within the membership, along with the Society’s Patron, who is a committed supporter of the organization. The head of the Board is known as the Society’s President. There is a Vice President, immediate Past President, a Treasurer and up to 4 Executive Committee Members. The rules for the operation of the Society are contained in the Society’s Constitution, which forms the basis of the Society’s operating procedures. Overriding these are the rules of New Zealand’s Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Act.
