INTRODUCING: Phoebe Blacklaws as Mildred Martindale 🚬🖼✂️

Phoebe has been performing at the Octagon Theatre since 2018 and has taken part in too many productions to count! Some of her recent shows include Sylvia, Acting Blind and Whangārei Theatre Company’s We Will Rock You and Heathers. She has immensely enjoyed working alongside such talented creatives, and she couldn’t be prouder to be able to tell this deeply special story.

We have always been here, we’re not going anywhere, and we deserve sunshine 🌈

INTRODUCING: Hannah Kelly as Norma Baxter📂👗👛

Hannah is delighted to be making her Octagon Theatre debut! While this may be her first show with Octagon, she is certainly no stranger to the stage, having recently performed in WTC’s We Will Rock You and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
When she’s not performing, Hannah can be found working her magic behind the scenes with the Hair & Makeup team. She’s excited to be returning to the world of plays after her recent musical performances, and can’t wait to bring Norma Baxter to life!

INTRODUCING: David Dickens-Jacobs as Bob Martindale 💼🗃🎨

David is thrilled to be returning to the Octagon Theatre for Perfect Arrangement. Over the years, he has been fortunate enough to take part in many Octagon productions, including Cinderella, Leading Ladies, Spider’s Web, and Storm in a Bottle, among others.

Perfect Arrangement is an especially meaningful production for David. As a q***r person, helping bring this story to life—and reflecting on how far the LGBTQ+ community has come, while recognising the courage of those who came before—has been both a privilege and a deeply personal experience. At its heart, the show is a reminder of the importance of being able to live, love, and exist openly as yourself.

Away from the stage, what means most to David is the little family waiting for him at home: his wonderful husband, Paul, who is his biggest supporter and their two cats, Luna and Hero, who remain considerably less impressed by his theatrical accomplishments.

INTRODUCING: Paul Dickens-Jacobs as Jimmy Baxter 👨‍🏫🥛🍞

This is Paul’s first play in Whangarei in 25 years and he is honoured to be a part of such an amazing cast, crew and director. To bring this show to life means so much to him and performing with his husband is the icing on the cake.
His previous theatre highlights include Eddie in Sister Act, Horton in Seussical & Killer Queen in We Will Rock You. He’s also directed Legally Blonde, Sylvia, Heathers and the next show at the Octagon (Disenchanted).

INTRODUCING: Kirsten Parker-Van Eck as Babara Grant🧤👒🗣

Kirsten has been involved in theatre for many years, both in the Netherlands and in New Zealand. She won a NAPTA for best actress for Dangerous Liaisons with the Whangarei Theater Company.
She has directed a number of plays for both Rising Stars, performing arts trust for young people and the Octagon Theater. She is delighted being back on the stage wearing fancy hats and delivering strong messages that are as relevant today as 75 years ago.

✨️ACTOR SPOTLIGHT✨️
INTRODUCING: Aroha Te Whata as Kitty Sunderson 🐈🛍🥣

Aroha loved playing make-believe as a child, eventually carrying that spark onto the stage. Her earliest roles were as Henny Penny and Mary in the nativity. More recent work includes The Tempest (2023), Pride and Prejudice (2023), and The Seagull (2024) with Stagecraft in Wellington.
Since moving to Whangārei, Aroha has appeared in Joyful and Triumphant (2025) and Project Murder (2026) at The Octagon. She is currently playing Kitty in Perfect Arrangement, a deeply moving experience shaped by the director, the cast, the crew, and the story.
