Octagon Theatre

Octagon Theatre Whangārei's octagon shaped black box theatre and the home of the Whangarei Repertory Society Inc. We also offer a "show only" category.

The Whangarei Repertory Society Inc has its home at the Octagon Theatre in Aubrey Street Whangarei. The society presents a range of plays and musical events throughout the year. As a theatre experience, the society has a small theatre seating 50 patrons and we provide a three course meal before the show for those patrons who wish to dine with us. We are always looking for new members to fill the wide range of roles involved in producing quality amateur theatre productions.

✨️ACTOR SPOTLIGHT✨️
INTRODUCING: Katrina Symonds as Annie💐👩‍👧‍👦💪

Being in a play that revolves around fashion, and a whirlwind of chaos was too tempting to for Kat to resist.
This is only Kats second time stepping onto the stage.
She is usually tucked away backstage – happily busy creating costumes.
Getting the chance to play Annie – a single mum and aspiring designer who quickly finds herself in over her head in the wild world of fashion reality TV
has been a fantastic experience.
On top of that, I'm loving the opportunity to bring the cast’s costumes to life.
I can’t wait for everyone to see the energy, creativity, and laughter that’s gone into making this show so special!

HELP GET NOAH TO SHAKESPEARE’S GLOBE 🌎💀🎭

Noah Hewlett-Cofffey participated in the 2025 Shakespeare Globe Centre of New Zealand Victoria University of Wellington(SGCNZ VUW) Regional Te Tai Tokerau festival and was hand picked to be fast tracked to the National Shakespeare School's Production(NSSP). From the NSSP, Noah was selected from over 40 other young Shakespeare enthusiasts to become a member of the 2026 Young Shakespeare Company. This massive achievement gives Noah the opportunity to represent Aotearoa's performing youth on the stage of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London!
The catch, SGCNZ will only cover half of the costs for his upcoming trip in July, and Noah doing everything he can to fundraise for the trip. This is where the Octagon and you come in!
Noah, using his infinite creativity, has conjured a performance about the life of the bard himself interjected with the greatest monologues of Shakespeare's works. Performed by Noah and a handful of other young Shakespeare enthusiasts, this show will be a hit with any w***y shakes fan and a marvelous introduction to the bard for those who only remember the bard from school.
All proceedings from ticket sales will go directly to Noah and be used for accommodation in and flights to and from London. The Whangarei Repertory Society Inc. is proud to host this fundraising event free of charge at the Octagon Theatre.

Show synopsis:
Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits is a walk through Shakespeare’s life, narrated in an entertaining and engaging style by Noah. Many of the Bard’s most loved monologues and soliloquies are peppered throughout. Performed by Noah and some of Northlands most talented actors, this show is a surefire way to ignite a love for Shakespeare that you never knew you had.
